I've been wondering lately if I have an allergy to salt. Some of the symptoms are there...
Any form of salt, especially soy sauce though, irritates my skin.I get a veryy itchy rash where ever the salt was put.
A few days ago I had honey and soy chicken, and the next day I had a very sore stomach.I didn't feel like I was going to vomit, just pain.It went away, then would come back.Is this a symptom also?
Thanks in advance
more likely........
Hi
Its more likely that you've an allergy to other ingredients rather than salt per se...soy, or wheat which is added to some soy sauces or to monosodium glutamate which is frequently added to a lot of foods or to other additives...
Try to buy unrefined sea salt or some rock salt such as Himalaya rock salt and use that instead of normal refined salt and see if you get the same reactions?

As kaif says, it's more likely to be another ingredient, wheat being a common one and monosodium glutamate (msg) being the other. Some people are also intolerent or allergic to soy, but that is less likely.
If you were allergic to salt you would be dead as our body requires certain levels of it to operate biochemically. The only way it could irrate your skin is if it were applied externally where it could a) scratch the skin or b) leech out moisture from the skin causing an eczema type rash.
If you're getting pains in your stomach on a regular basis, you would be best to see your doctor. It could be related to any number of things, or it could just mean you need more fibre in your diet or you have enough fibre but not taking in enough fluid (fibre without fluid is like cement, so it does need fluid to keep it moving!)

Thankyou both so much for your wonderful help!;) I will try those out and see.My skin is easily irritated, and salt being quite strong probably just irritates it.Thanks again for your great advice!;)

My daughter used to be like that with packets of noodles and certain soups which came in packets. She would get a red itchy rash all around her mouth. I thought it was the salt for quite a while, but later realised it was the added msg (salted things did not have the same effect when there was no msg) so that is probably the case.
An allergy is an exaggerated immune response or reaction to substances that are generally not harmful.Allergies are relatively common. Both genetics and environmental factors play a role.
The immune system normally protects the body against harmful substances, such as bacteria and viruses. It also reacts to foreign substances called allergens, which are generally harmless and in most people do not cause a problem.
But in a person with allergies, the immune response is oversensitive. When it recognizes an allergen, it releases chemicals such as histamines. which fight off the allergen. This causes itching, swelling, mucus production, muscle spasms, hives, rashes, and other symptoms, which vary from person to person.
An allergy is a reaction of your immune system to something that does not bother most other people. People who have allergies often are sensitive to more than one thing. Many allergens such as dust or pollen are airborne particles. In these cases, symptoms arise in areas in contact with air, such as eyes, nose, and lungs. For instance, allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever, causes irritation of the nose, sneezing, itching, and redness of the eyes.Allergies can cause a runny nose, sneezing, itching, rashes, swelling or asthma. Symptoms vary. Although allergies can make you feel bad, they usually won't kill you. However, a severe reaction called anaphylaxis is life-threatening.
