For the past few years I have been getting hayfever type symptoms that have gradually got worse. I now have asthma triggered by allergies and for that reason my doctor sent me for allergy testing. I was quite sure that I would show a positive result for pollens and dust and maybe some other substances. As it turned out all the tests came up negative and I was sent away and left to it!
Well obviously nothing improved and since then I've been taking anti-histamines, anti-allergy nasal sprays and eye drops, I have a hepa filter on my vacuum and anti allergy bedding. So WHY do I still have all my symptoms day after day? Sore itchy throat, itchy ears, sneezing, blocked up sinuses etc etc and as soon as I go outside each day, burning wtery eyes!
It's driving me mad and if anyone can offer any ideas I'd be eternally grateful! :banghead:

Hi Jupiter.

Ok! I had this and still do sometimes. There can be lots of triggers! You may be allergic to house dust mite for e.g. if so!; Hoover your mattress and let your bedding air before making it. If the sun comes into your bedroom all the better. Make up the bed after the sun has moved off! One of my triggers (and it pains me to say it) for me is wine!!!!. Not always but a lot of the time, when i drink wine I get hayfever type symptoms. Cheese can be another trigger. Try looking at what you eat when you're at your worst. I tend to take sudafed to curb my symptoms which helps me. But you need you know what suits you.

Don't let it get you down at all. I find with mine it comes and goes. I used to get sick of people saying 'oh have you still got that cold' it would drive me mad really!!!! but its gone now and i have had no sympotms for 6 months or so. It will come back. but hey!! its just a cold! right?

Hi there Serendipity!

Wine....tell me about it!!
I love a glass of red wine but, like you, it sets me off with all my symptoms. And yes I think cheese too is probably another one! No wine and cheese parties for us then!

It's wierd how it comes and goes though. I stopped drinking wine for a couple of months last year and felt much better. Then I decided to try it again and it gave me no problems at all!
However....... a few months down the line it's having an effect again.
I suppose the answer is simple. Stop having the things that trigger the allergies for a while, then maybe start again BUT stop as soon as you get a hint of your symptoms.
It's like you can build a tolerance for a while, but go too far and you're back where you started.

OK decision made! I'm sitting here now with a lovely glass of Merlot but I think it's time to give it up again for a significant amout of time, say 6 months and then see how it is.
OH! 😮 Someone pass me the vodka.................!!

Exactly!!! Same thing with me. Wine is fine for me at the moment but as soon as the symptoms start I will just leave it for a while. The symptoms do get better. I must be at least 70% better than I was two or three years ago.

There's hope for us yet... until then, theres Gin..............and tonic and a slice of lemon (of course)

Hi *S*, a lot's been said about how to cope with it but if you want to look for ways to get rid of it for good, you might want to try some homeopathy- it's got a really good track record in improving/curing allergies etc. You would need to look for a registered homeopath- feel free to PM me if you want some recommendations- particularly in your area. I would recommend to anyone that has allergies to try EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), it works on pretty much everything.

Best wishes,
Wendy

Hi Wendy, You probably already know this but an allergy is what results when your Immune System is inappropriately activated. You immune system is designed to attack Bacteria Viruses, and Parasites. One of the most overlooked causes for allergies starts in the First Stage of Digestion. There are over 150 Published Clinical on the unbalance pH in the First Stage of Digestion, over 75 of these Studies relate to Allergies’, Diabetes, Cancer, Osteoporosis, GERD (Barretts Esophogeal Reflx), and AIDS. When the First Stage of Digestion is out of balance, it can drastically affect the Immune Systems. The Stomachs prime responsibly is the Sterilization of Nutrients’, and the Conversions of Nutrients. There is very little absorption in the Gut, with the exception of certain fluids, and Alcohol. The normal fasting pH of the Stomach of a healthy adult is 1.0 to 1.3 pH. Virtually all Protein contains Allergens, which will cause Allergies and many other problems, if they are not destroyed in the Gut. In healthy adults, the food consumed, enters the Gut, and is mixed with Hydrochloric Acid, produced by the Parietal Cells, and turns it to thick liquidy mass called Chyme. At the same time, the Hydrochloric Acid kills the Allergens that accompany the Nutrients. The nutrients are converted by the Chief Enzymes of the Gastric Juices, which is Pepsin. Pepsin breaks down the nutrients into Proteoses, and Peptones. Pepsin is most active in the Conversion process when the Gut pH is 1.0 to 1.3 pH. When the pH of the Stomach moves toward the Neutral Slide of pH 5.0, these enzymes are not active in the Conversion process. If your First stage of digestion is not producing sufficient Hydrochloric Acid, there will always be reduced sterilization and conversion. To compound this problem the Pyloric Sphincter that allows the passage of nutrients out of the Gut, starts to relax, on average at 4.0 to 4.5 pH. If you are not producing sufficient Hydrochloric Acid (HCL), raw unconverted Protein that contains allergens will dump into your Small Bowell and cause Allergies, and many other problems. The First Stage of Digestion must be working at its optimum level to support the Immune System. If you do not believe this, stop eating for a week, and see what happens.(kidding) When Allergens enter the Small Bowel, the Immune System is activated. Bacteria, Parasites, etc. cause an Antibody, or Immunoglobulin Response, to try and eliminate the intruders. The antibodies in turn trigger a inflammatory response. The response could be skin rashes, watery eyes, abdominal pain, and increased Mucus production, Diarrhea, etc.. The Immune system is not supposed to attack food that enters the small Bowel, but that is exactly what happens when the food has not been Sterilized and converted. The lack of Hydrochloric Acid Productions is called Hypochlorhydria. There are two version of this disorder one is Hidden Hypo and the other is Obvious Hypo. The worst case scenario is called Achlorhydria. Hypochlorhydria and Achlorhydria are most prevalent in the 50 and up age groups, but not limited to these age groups. Recent studies indicate that the incidence of Hypo in younger age groups has doubled in the last 5 years. Researchers contribute this increase to fast foods and children spending excessive amount of time on the internet. (lack of exercise or activity). There is a very high probability that the allergies you are dealing with are the result of your Digestive pH being out of balance. I would highly suggest that you get a pH Diagnostic Test. The tests take about 30 minutes, and it is very Patient Friendly. I am not referring to a naso-gastric tube test, which can be highly traumatic, and the test results are questionable when it comes to the conversion factor. The test I am referring to is called the Heidelberg pH Diagnostic test. It uses a tiny micro-electronic pH Capsule that you swallow with a sip of water. It transmits the pH information to a computer where the information is displayed on a graph. The results will allow the doctor to determine if you have Hypochlorhydria (hidden or obvious), Hyperchlorhydria, Achlorhydria, Heavy Mucus, Pyloric Insufficiency, GRED, Acute or Sub-acute Gastritis, and much more. It will also allow the doctor to determine the correct type of and amount of medication you need to bring you system back into balance, while the test is running. In you are interested you can get more information on the Web at . I hope this helps
