I've been suffering with some kind of allergy over the last few months.
Symptoms include:
Throat getting dry and feeling like it is closing at times
Sneezing and blocked nose (as if someone is squeezing the tip of my nose)
My Echzema (sic) is getting worse
Feeling quite weak and tired.
I have been to the Doctors about it. The gave me Neo Clarityn, an inhaler and a nose spray. Recently it calmed down for a week or so but it has now returned worse than ever.
The last time I went to the Doctor, I asked if they could give me a test to see what I am allergic to, so I can avoid it. They told me that the tests are inconclusive and don't send people for them.
I'm getting quite depressed over it as it feels like it is getting worse every day and it is draining me of energy. Should I demand a test or is there anywhere else that can do it for me (I don't work so it would have to be cheap!).
Any advice will be much appreciated!
RE: A V.Quickie!
I had my intolerances checked over by a kinesiologist and again with a biofeedback machine- I asked for both tests to be blind so I would not be influenced by what was coming. I have to add I knew already pretty much what the problem was but did it for interest.. both tests gave very similar results and were in line with the things I had already eliminated from my diet.
I used EFT on myself recently to clear those problems and with a great success. Here's the link to that discussion we had about it.
You could also try an elimination diet, whereby you eat a very restricted diet for a three month period (or less if you have a half a clue what is causing it) and reintriduce foods one by one. I did one and it was brilliant. However, I would not advise anyone to do this without the support of a dietician. Your GP should be able to help with that.
Alternatively you could keep a full food diary, whereby you write down eevrything you eat and any symptoms you have, it will help you pinpoint some possible problem areas, then you can do more formal testing, by cutting it out and resintroducing it and seeing if you have any effects.
That is.. if food is the cause.. there's a little in the link about emotional causes of these imbalances, I realise now that my food intolerance was all emotional, owing to previous connotations and experiences. Once you clear those, the intolerances can ease up or completely go. Think about when it started and what was going on, you might be surprised..
RE: A V.Quickie!
Thanks for the speedy reply Justine!
I have a feeling that the allergies are related to either dust, mould or pet hair - We have recently started looking after my parents dog again (we had him for eighteen months till September then got him back again last week for a fortnight) and we also have a guinea pig. Also our house does have patches of mould on a lot of the walls - Obviously if I could confirm that it was the mould it would give me a case against the housing Association to get us moved out quicker (they would want proof).
I'm hoping (praying!) it isn't food related as I eat a very limited (unhealthy) diet - Since I was a child I have only eaten certain foods and I am still like that now. I have tried other food when I was younger and just do nto like the taste of it. So it would be hard for me to start leaving out certain types of food.
RE: A V.Quickie!
I also used to be a terrible eater, very limited in what I would have, very much a case of not liking the textures, tastes and smells.
Istarted doing EFT as a practitioner about a year ago and although I didn't work specifically on my problem with eating so poorly, it was something that was an everyday problem for me and through my work of treating other people for their issues, this everyday problem suddenly seemed to clear itself up and I just found that I was happy to start eating things and I didn't know why. And that was only after about3 months of treating other people.... if I'd specifically targeted my own issues with EFT I'm sure I would have got it cleared up a lot quicker.
Definitely recommed looking into EFT to help with that side of things and also, as Justine has said, you may find that the allergies are not really related to what you believe. With EFT we'd probably get you to look back to when you first experienced the allergy/intolerance and then ask what you were doing at the time and look for any triggers that they could be linked to.
If you'd like some more information on EFT please email or PM myself or Justine and we can start to point you in the right direction. You'll also find more information on these types of therapies on the Mind Therapies forum.
