As my workload increases I find it impossible to keep perfect posture at all times. My back is beginning to ache. I've been thinking of investing in an electric couch, so i can easily adjust the couch. I find I need a lower couch for certain massages but for others its too low. And its too low when I'm seated for Reflexology and facials.

Would anyone recommend a good couch for this problem? Maybe I need a better chair/stool to sit on while doing seated treatments too. I have a saddle stool which is better for posture but I get a sore bum if I'm doing long treatments. I have a regular office chair too which is comfy on the bum but not good for posture!

Advice please!

lower the table

I used to get back pain when i massaged but i realised that raising the table reduced the amount of bending I had to do.

The problem isnt which couch you should use but the height it is set to.

I have a large wooden spa couch which only has 2 height settings. The other one is too high. This is why I thought an electric couch with a wide range of settings and easier to switch around would be better for me.

I don't use an electrical couch, but mine came from feelgood.net, its heigh adjustable and I find it fine for the treatments that I offer, Reiki, Thai Foot, facials, etc. I do have a saddle stool - a therapist friend has a therapists chair which she prefers

This is where I got my non-electric couch from and I am very happy with it, they do a variety of electric and non-electric. I sort of wish that I had gone down the electric route too, but didn't have the money at the time.

I've used an electric couch for several years now and wouldn't be without it. I can raise or lower it depending on the treatments I'm giving and the size of the client.
Go for a 'scissor action' couch rather than one with a central pillar, as it's much more stable, especiaaly if you happen to do an energetic massage ever!
I bought mine from 'Ellisons' but they also appear on ebay sometimes so it's worth checking there. We have one at the salon which was bought from ebay and is still going strong year later.

You could also consider learning another way of massaging such as 'No Hands' massage which will protect both your hands and wrists and your back! (I've done their training but have no affiliate or any other link with the company, I just think too many massage therapists have to give up their careers and this type of massage can prevent this - and is a great massage to receive too!)

Thanks for your advice. Can you recommend a brand as i'm not sure what you mean by "scissor action"?

There are a lovely selection here - Electric Massage Tables | Electric Couches | For Sale UK | Online

I got my electric 3 section couch from Darley in 2003, but sadly they went out of business. I had it made with extra padding, so it's really comfy for clients to lie on. There is plenty of room at the foot, to allow me to roll my stool underneath if I am doing foot work, and also, plenty of room at the head end if I'm doing facial massage.

I have been wanting an Avalon multiflex for a while now but at the Camexpo I saw one similar called Affinity Diva which was much cheaper....can't make up my mind now.
