Hi Star

I think this visit of the Queen (as Head of State) is an excellent time - time to heal past wounds and start to appreciate each others cultures a bit more. We have far more in common than differences and most of our families are intermarried anyway!!!

Bet her visit would have been better if she got to meet you Star;) On a serious note I agree that it is probably a really good move towards healing past and present difficulties.

I agree with everyone! 🙂 i'm so glad she finally got to meet some real Irish people today too! That drive through Dublin was a bit creepy with just the Garda protecting the streets and the people kept away.

This was an interesting event as it shows the psychological power of the Monarchy. British Prime ministers have visited Ireland lots of times since Independence, but none of those visits had anything like the same emotional impact. I've seen the Queen three times, and its an emotional experience whatever one's political beliefs.
