Kate re-issuing her book and they have got the PM involved asking the police to once again look into the `disappearance` of Madeline McCann.
What must people who have had children disappear think of the media circus around this case.
My personal view is she died that night at their hands, probably accidently and this is all part of the major cover up.
They knew once she had died, that had they owned up to it they would be crucified. Straight away their two younger children would be taken into care and they would be imprisoned and lose their very lucritive posts.
Far better to make up the abduction story.
As a mother, you know had your child gone missing, you would answer any questions the police put to you if you thought it would help find your child. Not her she only answered one I belive out of 40 questions....what!!
so You have it all cussed, what happened and when and who has done it!
Losing a child is bad enough without having to deal with all the judgement that people throw at such parents. The truth is it could happen to many people. Some happen to be just terribly unlucky. It does not make them bad if they ae trying to get people involved to find their child. Good luck to them. Comparing them with other paents who lose children is also bitterness. Each must do what they are pushed to do. To you it may seem all a circus.
Especailly if you be the judge and accuse them of killing her, that would be the last thing they would be doing.
Peace

I would search until the ends of the earth to find out what happened to my child or a relative of mine. They will never rest until the have answers to their questions.
I dont agree with them leaving their children alone in a flat, but they were checking, at regular intervals (which was noted and this was their downfall - if they were irregular maybe another familly will have been targeted?). How many kids are left alone in the world whilst their parents are, just outside, just next door, just popping down the road, just going to the shop - only the corner of the road, etc, we will never know. How many famillies have gone on holiday and left their children with the hotel/resort 'baby sitter/child sitter' you have no idea of their background or motivation for doing the work they do??? Have you gone camping, and walked away from your tent, camper van, caravan, holiday home, hotel room 'just for a chat with the people nearby'?
In their TV appearances the police told them how to act, throw in both of them being GP's who's work experiences have meant that they had to keep their emotions under control, whilst dealing with distressing situations. They came across as quite cold/remote.
I feel for their pain, there will be no closure or moving on until they have the full facts of what happened to their daughter. They have twins which means that they have to move on and make it 'normal' for their children, with the knowledge that they dont know where their eldest child is, how she is treated, is she ok, is she happy or sad, alive or dead, the lack of info must be awful.
As for the police at the time, we all know they made big mistakes, lots of missed opportunities, too little, too late. Around the area other children have gone missing, never to be traced, so something is going on. As for the media, lots of mixed messages, we know the Police leaked info to try and make them not look so bad, so lots of misinformation floating around, I do not believe, that the 'public' know all the 'facts'.
One day, someone will come forward and the truth will be know.
For now their child is missing and many others who have dissapeared without a trace, famillies wandering what happened and wishing if only we hadnt left him/her alone.

I have nothing but sympathy for the parents of any child who has been abducted. The torment they must feel each day must be unbearable.
They certainly don't need our judgment, but instead our compassion.
Judge not unless you have walked one day in someone else's shoes.
I agree I would never rest till I knew what had happened to my child.
I cannot imagine how it feels for them.
There is no evidence of an abduction, none at all. That is not to say that they killed her, just that no evidence at all was ever found to support the case of abduction.
It was the Leicestershire police who recommended that the parents be scrtinised as suspects, so I'm not sure what the Met are going to find, but one thing is sure, if the McCanns are guilty of something then the twins are at risk, and if they are not guilty of more than 'poor parenting' then potentially other children are at risk.

Couldn't have put it better!
I believe they are driven - not only by their grief at losing their child but also by their guilt & by that I mean the hundreds & thousands of times that the words "If only we had....." must be running through their minds. An event occurred, which they are in some way responsible for, which resulted in the loss of their child. This, I believe, is why they will never stop and never let it rest or let anyone forget, until they have an answer. Whatever their part was in all of this they are now living tormented lives. Not something I would wish on my worst enemy.
The tabloid newspapers present us with 'stories', not news, and like children we like our stories to have a neat beginning, middle and end. If we don't know who the villain of the story is then it seems some of us will happily resort to a lynch mob mentality.
This thread's title is ' The McCann's are at it again', and that makes me despair. To condemn someone based on what we're fed by the tabloids is shocking. Two things are certain about this case; a tragedy has occurred, and none of us really knows what happened.
Orangeblossom - have you actually read Kate McCaan's book, or are you making your judgements on the basis of the tabloid sensationalism? Surely we should consider both sides before condemning them?
Last night I watched a TV documentary (See you in court) on libel suing and there was a Tamil man who had gone on hunger strike in London protesting about the treatment of his people in Sri Lanka and nearly died. The Mail and another tabloid published a two page sensationalist expose on how he'd been secretly eating MacDonalds burgers. This man, having been honoured and revered, became a hate object, subjected to death threats from his community and had to go into hiding. Have a look at this and perhaps you will think twice before blindly accepting everything that is written in tabloids.

It was truly shocking how the papers never checked the facts before they blindly printed lies just to sell papers, with no thought of the distress they were causing. Look at that case in Clifton, Bristol, where some papers decided it was her landlord who had killed her - again, without a shred of evidence.
There is so much hate coming through your post Orangeblosson, when there should be fairness at the very least - and surely compassion?
I can't imagine what it must feel like to lose a child - in any circumstances. And, as others have said here, to feel that dreadful guilt, that they will have all their lives - "if only we had employed a baby sitter" "if only..." etc. There are paedophile rings, especially in Europe. Many abducted children have been found - there were some recent cases in Belgium for instance. Can you even try to imagine what your daughter has been subjected to in that case? Complete living nightmare and I, like the McCaans would be doing everything I could to try to find her. If they do find Maddy in the clutches of evil like that - how will you feel about this post you've just written?
Judy
Orangeblossom.
I am intrigued not by the thought process made apparent by your post (I know many people whose thinking and understanding of the world is moulded entirely by their regular reading of the Daily Mail, for example), but why on earth you felt it necessary to post such a thing on here?
Were I to post on here my 'personal view', as you put it, about you, I think you'd be furious, at least, since it would be defamatory, unfounded and unkind - even if it were true!
It seems to me beyond the realms of possibility that the McCanns should have killed their daughter, either inadvertently or by intent. Since I am not privy to any inside information, nor do I choose to believe what the tabloid newspapers write (or even the so called 'quality' newspapers, come to that) I cannot feel it would be appropriate for me to form a judgement as to what happened to Madeleine. I was a bit shocked, orange blossom, if truth be told that you are so convinced that the McCanns could be capable of what you think they did. I can't even begin to imagine what happened or what they have had to go through. Of course, who am I to say? You may indeed be right....who knows? And who will ever know? But innocent until proven guilty and all that.....
Personally I don't think there is any way they would still be courting publicity in their efforts to find Madeleine if indeed she had been killed due to their negligence. More likely they would have simply kept a very low profile. I certainly wouldn't blame them for using any means available to them, such as contacting the PM, in any effort to try and find their daughter. Who wouldn't do the same in the same situation.;)
I am tending to sit in the middle on this.. due to wonderings of why only Madelaine was taken,( she slept inbetween the twins) the twins were still sleeping on after the disappearance was discovered. How was it that no neighbours or passerbys did not hear or see anything?..
They do say that most kidnappings, deaths, are done by someone the person knows. There are cases from many years ago that have been suddenly proven to be committed by family or family friend.
Why oh why, did they not have a proper babysitter, and of course people are going to question, and judge them for their actions on the night. Did they really think that the media and general public would not.?

I've not followed the story closely, but I know people have attested to a man who was hanging around the place before that day. I'm afraid children are "hand-picked" sometimes due to appearance. One man couldn't take three children. And a male carrying a child was seen after the incident, who seemed to fit the description.
Can't give references etc for all that, but it was in at least most newspapers over time.
