And a male carrying a child was seen after the incident, who seemed to fit the description.
...But then again there were also reports of a cadaver-sniffing dog detecting the appropriate scent in the back of their holiday vehicle and a bag...
We shouldn't read into anything we see in the papers, whether it is negative or optimistic. Papers make money, they don't report news.

Just to clarify they are both GP's/he is a consultant in something whilst she is a GP and something else (again cant remember) and it was confirmed by Police that just prior to their holiday one of them (cant remember who) visited a patients home who had sadly passed away. GP's do this all the time (it's part of their job) so putting their bag/s down next to the patient/close to them is the done thing, a GP doesnt leave their bag/bags within the vehicle for security reasons.
Therefore this line enquiry was quickly checked out and disregarded.
Fudge
That's what I'm really trying to say, Fudge: That just because many of these notions have been published in "news"papers, many of them are debunked and most probably made up to begin with.
I'm not supporting any theories, just casually thinking out aloud that nothing is verified so why we take things as fact (whether it's hopeful or sensationalist) is beyond me.
The comment about the McCanns' calm demeanour when interviewed on TV raises an important point about modern Britain. The media have taught the public to expect certain stereotypical behaviour from relatives in these situations. Anyone who steps outside these expectations is vilified and even accused being a potential murderer. At one time, British people were expected to be reticent about their feelings. Nowadays they are expected to emote publicly and demonstratively. But the fact is that different people have different ways of dealing with these things, and strangers do not have the right to judge them on this basis. When Princess Diana died the Queen was vilified by the media for failing to display sufficient public grief. What people maybe forgot was that the Queen lived through World War Two when hundreds of people in this country were being killed every day in bombing raids. People had no time for demonstratively grieving, there was too much to get on with. Likewise maybe with the McCanns- they're doctors- and we expect doctors to control their emotions, they couldn't do their job otherwise. A similar case was that of Lindy Chamberlain, in the "Dingo baby" case. The Australian media vilified the Chamberlain family for being too calm after their daughter's disappearance. In fact their calmness was based on their strong and genuine spiritual faith.
Hi Orangeblossom
Just felt like connecting with you. Please don't let this thread put you off. You have been on my mind and thought I 'll let you know that.
Mccains are not even reading this but you perhaps are. Hope the criticism in the thread does not feel personal against you, just against what you chose to say in that one moment. There is no judgement.
loving Hugs

Thank you Ruby for getting round to doing something I have been meaning to do all week in letting Orange Blossom know that she is still a valued member of the HP community.
OB for what my opinion is worth I have a feeling about Gerry McCann always have, it's not the lack of emotion there's just 'something' a feeling in my bones as my late nan used to say, I am NOT saying he had anything to do with the death of his darling child but I know as sure as tody is Sunday that something quite unsavoury will come out in the wash one day.

Oh no, here we go again! 😮 Obviously, you know Gerry McCann personally (or at least had a conversation with him?) in order to make this judgment about him??
Rebecca - was that remark supposed to lift this thread to a higher place???? Very helpful - I don't think! 🙁
Jesus, who always exposed wrong thinking, also said:
[COLOR="Purple"]
Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
For in the same way as you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? (Matt 7)
The posts above were not attacking Orange Blossom herself, (and I too am grateful to jnani for her post). I always separate wrong thinking from the individual, because our real identity can only reflect love and goodness. Anything else is a counterfeit. But wrong and hateful thinking should be exposed and destroyed, because it's not real and it's not who we are!
With love,
Judy
Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
Perhaps you should take that on board yourself?

Judy is making a comment on an opinion, Healistic, not a person.

Forgive me, but if you use a persons name then you are involving a person directly and as such you are commenting on that person directly. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and in this case I personally would agree with that persons opinion. If i did not then i would say so personally.
I don't understand the malice towards the McCanns expressed here. To say they killed Madeleine reveals more about your mentality than it does about them. They are able to keep the case in the public milieu because they are educated and articulate - and this is what seems to evoke such spite from those with massive chips on their shoulders. Kate McCann obviously can't bear to accept that her precious child is dead and, until she finds out what happened to Madeleine, she will never obtain closure. At the time of Madeleine's disappearance one of the TV news programmes trotted out a former vice squad officer as an expert witness, he said that in his experience children taken by paedophiles were dead within 24 hours - I'm afraid I believe him.
I do not know the McCanns personally, but I do know, through work, one of the doctors who was present at the time and he is a lovely bloke whose hair has gone grey since this horrible event. I can only feel pity for the McCanns who must be destroying themselves with self-recrimination.
Forgive me, but if you use a persons name then you are involving a person directly and as such you are commenting on that person directly.
 Commenting on a person's opinions is not the same as criticizing them personally.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion and in this case I personally would agree with that persons opinion.
I'd suggest this is why you are sensitive to contrary points of view.

Beats me too. I was listening to an interview this morning that dealt with the idea of the public feeling entitled to know the details of the private lives of perfect strangers.
I don't care, and I don't want to know if Arnold Schwartsenagger likes ugly women, or if an overpaid footballer I've never heard of is unfaithful. I don't want to know what went wrong with Katie Price's hair, and I certainly won't be forced to have an opinion on the McCanns based on what the tabloid press peddles.
Too many people nowadays seem more concerned about 'celebrities' that they've never met, and never will, than a neighbour needing help, who really should be their concern.*

Hi Judy,
No I don't know him personally but I feel that intuition and 'wrong thinking' are two seperate issues.
I did not post in order to lift this thread to a higher place, I posted because I know what it feels like to make a post on here worded in a way which assumes everyone will agree with you only to find out they don't it's more than a bit embaressing so I just wanted to say to OB that we all make mistakes and errors of judegement and I hope it does not put her off staying with HP.

I've held back replying myself till now...
The McCann's uncle was my headmaster at school, which was a Roman Catholic school (I'm not RC myself, but attended that school as the only non-RC, long story, not really interesting so won't go into it here). The family are devout Roman Catholics, and the sense of that faith I got when I was in that school, whilst it's not something I would particularly follow myself, is that there is a great unity in hardship and a great belief in God and the fact He will support and guide them. I don't know the McCann's themselves personally, but knowing the 'family' they are within leads me to believe that the 'coldness' (for want of a better word) that the general public are perceiving about them, is not through any guilt for any crime, but rather guilt about having made a mistake in leaving their daughter unsupervised and also calm strength found through their religion and support of their 'family'. What I have perceived from their appearances on television shows the same support network and family that I saw at that school, and nothing so sinister as some people are suggesting.
I find it astounding that, as others have said, people who know nothing about them are willing to judge them so readily, based on the hype and misinformation of the media and 'others' who also know nothing about them.
Would you be happy to be so judged openly in public?
All Love and Reiki Hugs
Thanks Giles, for a bit of "insider" info.
I remember going to a funeral once of the dad of 13 children (all adults by then). Only one, the youngest actually, who had come and had several talks with me when it happened, was all together. Her brothers and sisters were all hysterical. There was wailing and screaming in the church and one sister tried to throw herself on top of the grave as it was being lowered. (I had to comfort the poor vicar afterwards too!) My friend was the only one who was calm and who was supporting all of her brothers and sisters. What was the difference? She had strong faith, her brothers and sisters were agnostics and felt death was the end. So, yes, what you said Giles makes absolute sense.
Healistic, I made the remarks I did to Rebecca as I happen to know her. OK, we've never met, but have had many PMs and emails in the past and phone calls when she was in Spain. So I wasn't making a judgment about someone about who was a complete stranger and actually, I wasn't making a judgment about her, but objecting to what she was doing. You see, in the UK, we have a LAW which says that a person is innocent until proved guilty.
I would have thought that HP of all places, where most people profess to be "spiritual" or "healers" or "lightworkers" etc, would be the last place to find accusations of guilt before someone is proved innocent!
I hope we can all get on now with what is important. I so agree with Barafundle when he said:
