Most people know of the Taoist Tai-Chi Society- why do they pronounce it 'Dowist -Tai Chi' (with a D) when they still pronounce The Tao with a T?

I think its the pin yin translation, I pronounce the Tao with a D too!

it Daoist Tai ji in piying because its for prononciation differencation between t and t'h (with the breath out) and ji because it's prononce djee and jeep (the car)
