Is anyone here with the Reiki Federation?

Being a Reiki teacher now I was wondering if it worth me joining them?

Yes I am with them because I like their approach to regulation and CPD. they also provide a block insurance at a very good price.

Thank you Tashanie, as I'm multi-disciplined I'm with the FHT.

I've been looking for info on how many case studies is the norm for R2, but it seems all their info is for members only. Unless I'm not looking in the right place. 😮

I did 4 O think but that was some time ago and I know they have changed their criteria. i haven't done any level 2 yet - but you have prompted me to check. I will look it up and get back to you since I think that is for members only

OK it just says 'Cases' without specifying how many. It does specify a minimum of 3 months between 1 and 2

You do not have to jump trough other peoples hoops unless you feel that you will benefit from doing so, the people who are setting these standards for other people to follow did not have to do them themselves, so I am a little unsure why they think that others should have to do them?

I have three areas of practice, pharmacy, hypnotherapy and reiki. Both pharmacy and hypnotherapy have regulatory bodies, CPD, and and NOS. (Although I don't teach either)

For me complying with the NOS and UK Reiki federation standards is something that makes sense because its how I believe ALL healthcare professions should be run for the protection of patients AND practitioners.

If reiki is ever to be accepted by mainstream medicine this is the path is MUST go down and I am happy to do it.

From what I can see its only for level 2 practitioner level.

Hi Tashanie

For me complying with the NOS and UK Reiki federation standards is something that makes sense because its how I believe ALL healthcare professions should be run for the protection of patients AND practitioners.

Yes I would agree that health care professionals require a framework in which they should function, it is a vast multi billion pound industry after all and will remain so as long as they insist on treating the symptoms and ignoring the underlying cause.

Likewise healers require their own healing framework, which will help them to safely provide people with healing, the two requirements are separate and distinct from each other. 🙂

When you studied to become a pharmacist, you studied A+P, chemistry and pathology etc, so that you could understand how drugs affect the systems of the body, you did that because it suited the remit of what you where doing.

Healers likewise need to understand how a person creates their general state of health and wellbeing, they need to learn how to help people to personally develop so that they become self empowered and able to look after themselves.

With Usui's original system, healing was not emphasised, Usui would heal people of their pain and suffering, give them an empowerment, some instructions which turned into the precepts and tell them to live their lives by them, in other words to self develop, healing was a byproduct of personal development.

If reiki is ever to be accepted by mainstream medicine this is the path is MUST go down and I am happy to do it.

This is one of my main bones of contention, to my understanding healing someone's way of being, which is creating their symptoms of pain and suffering, so that they can become whole, is not the same and has nothing to do with using medicine to attack and repress the symptoms of people's inner divisions and conflicts.

I do not think that healing should be accepted as a part of mainstream medicine, it works in the complete reverse of medicine, rather than making people dependent upon the practitioners or to keep taking the medicine, healing should work to empower people and puts them firmly back in control of their own general state of health and wellbeing.

Healing is healing, not medicine, healing should sort out the underlying cause of the symptoms of people's pain and suffering, which is themselves.

OK a lot of points there. i don't think someone should be DENIED treatment by reiki simply because they happen to be a mainstream institution. i want to see reiki being used within the NHS, on the wards.

I do NOT see drugs and reiki as being incompatible.I am a COMPLEMENTARY practitioner (not healer) and always will be

I think we will have to just agree to differ. You and I probably represent the two extremes of views on this and neither will be able to convince the other. In fact I believe there is no right or wrong on this - there is room for both our views.

Read what you have written on the first line Paul: 'Usui would heal people of their pain and suffering'. Reiki as taught by Usui-sensei was a healing art. He cured many people, it is stated on his memorial stone. To say that Reiki was not about healing is pretty much inaccurate. Yes there is the spiritual aspect of Reiki, but that is not of any greater or lesser importance than the healing aspect, the two are parallel paths.

Neither do I think that someone should be denied healing just because they are in a medical establishment under the direction of a medical practitioner, I perceive healing as a life style choice that everyone should be free to embrace wherever they are, irrespective of what a third party thinks.

Do you not think that it would be far better for healing to be applied as a life force healing practice that is applied by a competent healer who knows how to create a lasting change within the whole being, in the way that they know how to apply it, as opposed to a healer having to compromise their healing and apply it as a complementary health care practice, under the direction of medical practitioners, who understand the application of medicine, but do not understand healing or its application?

I do NOT see drugs and reiki as being incompatible.I am a COMPLEMENTARY practitioner (not healer) and always will be

If you do not want to embrace healing and become a healer, then why are you learning to practising a healing modality?

Sorry but the reality is that healers perform healing to create lasting inner changes that will transform someone's way of being so that they can become whole, medicine does not heal, it simply maintains health care.

I think we will have to just agree to differ. You and I probably represent the two extremes of views on this and neither will be able to convince the other. In fact I believe there is no right or wrong on this - there is room for both our views.

I understand that health care has its place and is good in an emergency to patch people up and save their lives, I always maintain that if I have a ruptured appendix, then I require skilled medical intervention, but that is not healing, until healing is put into its proper place, then it will never be taken seriously as an alternative life choice that people can make to transform themselves and their life experiences.

Healers do not utilise drugs or other stimulus to control or repress the functions of the body, they work with the life force energy of consciousness, which sets up the environment for the body to function within.

Healers work to create a lasting change within the person themselves, whatever symptoms that the person is creating for themselves is largely irrelevant to a healer for their main thrust is to heal the person.

Healers transform the person and that creates a change within their whole being which will change the environment that the body functions within, that is how healing manifests as wholeness, any health care benefits and there are many, is simply a byproduct of healing, health care is not the main thrust or focus of healing, healing the person into wholeness should be the main focus of a healer.

He cured many people, it is stated on his memorial stone. To say that Reiki was not about healing is pretty much inaccurate. Yes there is the spiritual aspect of Reiki, but that is not of any greater or lesser importance than the healing aspect, the two are parallel paths.

Yes Usui spent many years studying all the different forms of healing that were around in his day before he eventually developed himself to the point that he could look within and become a healer who healed in a different way to what he had already learnt in his years of study.

As he had already developed himself to the point that he had become a healer, he could heal people of their pain and suffering, in the early days before he was commanded to teach the officers how to heal and came up with the Reiki practice that was brought to the west, he would heal people and as I said give them an empowerment and some instructions that would help them to become whole, as these people became whole they could heal as a byproduct of becoming whole.

Healing applied without creating a lasting change will not stand the test of time, it is like taking one tablet from a course of antibiotics and expecting it to do its job

His later system with the symbols allowed people to create a healing flow and apply it to the symptoms of people pain and suffering, without having to develop themselves into wholeness, or learn how to apply healing to create a lasting change, it is a bit like a first aid kit, but without understanding how to create a lasting change within the whole being, it needs reapplying frequently to maintain the change that it creates, much like medicine needs to be taken on a regular basis to maintain the changes that it creates within the symptoms.
