New to the forum and wanted to see how many people felt ill after their reiki 1 attunement?
I am doing mine this weekend but getting a bit anxious after reading so many negative experiences from people after attunements.
Anyone feel better after their attunement?
Thanks xx
Hi LittleSnowdrop
Welcome to the forum. 🙂

Please consider that our thoughts create our realities.
The attunement is yours to receive in whatever manner you perceive that it should be received. 😉
So if you believe that you are going to feel ill after your attunement through choosing to embrace other peoples responses, then that is what you are going set about creating for yourself. 🙂
If alternatively you choose to ignore what other people have reported that they have experienced and choose to believe that you are going to feel really good after your attunement, then that is what you are going to set about creating for yourself. 🙂
Try to not worry about your course and attunement. The attunement process is an energy based ritual that connects the student to specific Universal energies and allows the student to channel these energies for healing themselves and others. Once attuned, students may experience changes brought about by these energies flowing into them and integrating into their system. Some of these changes can be due to physical healing/detox, some due to emotional healing and others due to spiritual development. The extent to which each student will experience reactions/changes is unique to them and their own personal circumstances. There is nothing to be afraid of, any changes that occur will be for your ultimate benefit and your Reiki teacher will help and support you if you have any questions or difficulties. Go and enjoy the course with no preconceptions of what you will experience and simply accept the healing path you are following.
Hello Little Snowdrop.
When I went for my first attunement I had no idea what reiki was and went with an open mind really not expecting to experience very much. In the end it was an amazing experience - and I had no ill effects at all.
The attunement however IS a form of healing - so start self healing as suggested by your teacher .
Relax and enjoy the day
Thanks for the replies - when I am feeling worried about it I try to remember the precepts and try to trust in the reiki that it has found me when I need it most. One of the reasons I want to do reiki in the first place is to help me with my anxiety - ironic that I have anxiety about doing my attunement but maybe this is the first step of my healing.
So grateful for your replies x
Hi LittleSnowdrop!
I did feel a sick after the first day of my reiki I attunement, and I spoke to my teacher about it. She suggested maybe I was trying too hard and she was right. I had this idea that I had to really push the energy through, instead of just opening myself and then letting it flow.
The next day I stopped trying so to speak and felt absolutely fine.
So as everyone has said just try and relax and you should be fine!
Love and light
Louisa
Following my Reiki 1 attunement I felt really tired for about a week, I literally woke up, worked my hours at work and then went back to bed. For my Reiki 2 attunement I was the complete opposite and was full of energy, ideas and optimism. There are no hard and fast rules on how the Reik energy makes you feel. It is helping you find your balance and align with the energy.
I feel it can bring some things to the surface that need to be dealt with and it would only do so if you were ready to face them, heal them and then move forward.
Ensure you include as many self-healing treatments as possible in the beginning, Twice daily if you can manage it, once daily if your time is more stretched. This will all help to ease you into channelling the Reiki energy. Also practice on as many people as possible as that helps too.
Don't worry about your attunement, it is a positive experience. Enjoy the journey.

Hi LittleSnowdrop,
As almost everyone here has stated, each person receiving an attunement is unique and each person will experience Reiki in their own individual way. It will not throw you into the deep end. If anything Reiki is similar to being gently touched by the wing of an angel and being shown a beautiful new path.
The worst thing that happened to me when receiving my Reiki I, was I cried (while do the dishes, watching a sad movie, etc.)....that's it, I just cried...similar to a woman whose pregnant and her hormones go a little wild. And no the crying didn't last for 9 months....3 months tops and it wasn't every day either! The crying was just my way of releasing old stuff and outdated emotions. Now I teach Reiki and if I taught you, I'd tell you to practice, practice, practice Reiki, especially on yourself. The more you practice the more Reiki naturally flows.
You're going to love it! Promise:)
Thanks everyone - I am starting to get really excited about it again and the nerves seem to be passing. Anyone else got any experiences they want to share? x
Hi Littlesnowdrop...
I certainly agree with the other replies, there's certainly a difference in outcomes for different people when they have their attunements.
During my first Reiki attunement, I felt an immense heat on my head as if a red hot poker was being pressed against it (and that was without my Reiki Masters hands touching)... but after the attunement that passed, and apart from a few days with a 'need' to drink more water (flushing out 'toxins'? maybe... who knows hehe!) I suffered no real adverse side effects, and certainly felt a lot more chilled, inspired, and positive.
A lady who was also attuned at the same time was quite different... she burst into tears and became quite upset... which was likely to be for the best as it hadn't been long since her mother had passed, but she had the support of everyone there and she received plenty of Reiki and was thankful for being able to let it out... come to think of it, I did my Reiki II with the same lady and she cried again when I gave her a reiki treatment... but again she was thankful for being able to get it out, and saw it as a positive move forward.
Yes, you can read stories of people who may say that Reiki ruined their lives, or caused their relationship to break down etc. etc. but in truth... are they just using Reiki as an excuse for something that was inevitable anyway?.... let's face it... people like to find someone or something else to blame rather than accept responsibility for their own actions. It would be like blaming a car for making you angry when it breaks down... I've yet to see the scientific evidence that a car is able to directly manipulate the human emotions... without it being anything to do with the human themselves. 😀
You'll enjoy it... I'm sure.... have fun.

Hello Littlesnowdrop,
I am glad you are feeling more positive about having your attunement and I too agree with the posts already on here.
For my first attunement I felt very tired, but the funny thing was my nose tingled a lot on and off for a couple of months. At first it made me feel like Samantha from Bewitched because it felt like my nose was moving and that everyone could see it twitching, which they couldn't of course.
After attuning to master level it moved to my crown which still to this day tingles now and again, it is a lovely feeling though 🙂
Relax and enjoy your experience and let us know how you get on.
Thanks again for the replies - lovely to meet such nice people on this forum and looking forward to sharing with you all.
So.... My reiki master called today to say the other girl can't make it this weekend now so I can either wait a few weeks to join her or do it on a one-to-one basis.... I'm not sure what would be best... any thoughts?
Thanks x

I would go for one-to-one. Its how I was taught. Its how I would love to teach ALL my pupils. She wouldn't be offering one-to-one unless she knew she could produce a willing subject for you to practice on before you leave.
One-to-one means you can ask as many questions as you like without feeling you are holding the other person up
Sally
I would say the opposite... as in wait to do it in a group of at least two of you... that way, you can still ask questions, and you get to practice on each other. For my Reiki I there was 4 of us doing it, and for Reiki II there was just two of us.... I preferred it that way as it was good to be able to practice different treatments on each other with the teacher looking on and advising... which the teacher can't do so easily if you're having to do the treatement on them.
I also think small groups are good because you get to meet some other people 'in the same boat' and with the same interests... not just for social networking, but also for your reiki progression.
At the end of the day it's up to you, but I know my preference.

Of course, in groups... other people often ask the questions you're too shy to ask or that you think would sound silly asking, or even asking a question you hadn't thought about.... good for everyone. 🙂
