Hi,

I'm doing a holistic course which involves swedish massage. I'm now attuned to reiki 2 :D. Anyway I was talking to one of the other therapists the other day who was quite down and we were talking about depression. Anyway the next week at class he mentioned that after talking to me he felt all energised and different, felt something in his heart area and had been feeling a lot more positive. Said he'd talked to other people and had not had this before. Was very curious about reiki as they know I'm getting into it.

Previously before this one of the girl therapists was giving me a massage (my tutor mentioned that this girl has a really bright silvery aura which indicated pregnancy (def no) or spirit close by - I want to be able to see too). The next day she said that she'd had a horrible experience in that she'd dreamt of a ghost like woman and felt paralised (sp??) and unable to move but it def didn't feel like a dream. Has happened before but not for years, both her mum & little brother have seen things so it sounds like either runs in family or is the house they live in. Anyway it happened to her again shortly after I massaged her. Feels like she's now avoiding me which isn't great.

Anyway both of those times I def wasn't intending or thinking about reiki and I wouldn't pass it on without someones agreement. I've just read Penelope Quests reiki book in which it mentions that if someone is in need of reiki they can be drawn to you and it can just flow without you even knowing or meaning it too. Do you think that could be what happened on these occasions?

Another thing also happened is that my boyfriends flatmate asked me to give him some to which I felt like a brick wall surrounding him & the reiki wasn't flowing to him (had just done my friends in which it had). I told him this and he was almost smug in saying he was glad as he hadn't wanted it anyway and was just testing me, he's very happy to wallow in his misery so I'm not surprised. Anway never felt this before but was a very interesting experience & makes me even more aware that if someone doesn't it want it then it won't flow.

Any thoughts? Sorry it's such a long post.

Hi Curious

I'm glad that you have posted this as it is something that came up in my Reiki Share group recently. A new member was quite upset because she had been told off by another Reiki person for offering to send healing to a mutual friend who was having problems! The reason "you must not send healing unless you have asked permission first". I find this a very sad situation. The intent and love behind the wish to help someone should never be squashed by another. IF the person the healing is being sent to does not wish or want it or it is a spiritual 'lesson' that they have to go through the experience then that person's energy will not accept what has been sent, simple as that. In fact you have found this out by the man who had a 'wall' around him.
It's the same for prayers being said for disasters around the world etc. Do people have to get 'permission' to send prayers out? I don't think so. As long as the intention is for the Highest Good of all concerned you will do no harm.
I am constantly amazed and saddened at the rubbish and rules around Reiki at the moment. My motto and experience is "keep it simple". I think ego plays a big part in a lot of these issues. We must try to remember WE are just the channels for this wonderful energy to work through, WE don't do the healing, Reiki does and the sooner we get back to this basic principle the better as far as I am concerned. I am just so grateful that this energy found me to work through all those years ago and I try to pass that gratitude onto my students.

You carry on doing what your heart draws you to do and don't listen to anyone who tries to put you down because of their own insecurities.

Good luck

I think there are two slightly different situations here. If I correctly read curious11's post, this is about Reiki just happening to flow while doing massage ... and of course could apply equally to reflexology or any other treatment for that matter ... as well as just thinking about someone.

The other, which has been the subject of much discussion and debate in this forum, is whether or not one should consciously decide to send Reiki to somebody without asking them first if they would like to receive.

In the Healing & Prayers forum, for instance, people post to ASK for healing, and then it's fine for others to state that they will send. In others, in Mental & Emotional for instance, there are posts where someone says: 'I will send you some healing if you would like it', which I personally feel is the better way to go 🙂

EDIT: In reply to Reikiangel:

A new member was quite upset because she had been told off by another Reiki person for offering to send healing to a mutual friend who was having problems! The reason "you must not send healing unless you have asked permission first".

Sounds like a contradiction in terms to me ... if she was offering, isn't that the same thing? It doesn't sound as if she was sending anything uninvited

Hello, Curious~

Energy is always flowing. Healing is always present. If it helps to thinks of healing in the same way as Love (which I think is the same thing) remember all the times you have felt Love for someone you don't know. =) Or call it caring or empathy or gentleness or kindness. Remember the feelings of seeing or holding a newborn.

Equally, think of those whose actions put you off. There is nothing different about these situations once you know about healing. The only thing that changes is your awareness.

I remember the first time I was in a crowd and felt the energy flow. I didn't cause it, I didn't participate in it for the first time, I simply was aware of it for the first time. What a rush, and what a mind-blowing understanding! This energy is always here and I didn't know it!!!

Some people choose to move through life on their own and will try to block the energy that they wish not to receive. But we cannot live without energy, so it doesn't matter what we choose--we have energy anyway. We may not allow it through one person but will welcome it through another. And we may not allow it totally, keeping a part of ourself apart from the sharing.

Do you think that the man who blocked your energy also blocks his mother's love? Or his son's?

Healing is always present. Full stop! We can participate in it by providing hugs, shared experiences, gentle glances, laughter, and open hearts. We can also fool ourselves by thinking that we are necessary to it.

Curious, you are experiencing understanding of a miracle! Enjoy.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your replies!

It's interesting about the having to ask & having to have it accepted.

With this bloke I think he was really just trying to make out Reiki is a whole load of baloney, had I said I could feel it was flowing he could of gone on about how he didn't wanted it, couldn't feel it etc etc. The girls had just told me how it felt amazing and how they could feel the energy from my hands. Usually they can feel the heat before i realise it's there. But it was very interesting as I've heard of it before but until then I had never felt it. I did for a minute think it could be down to such a cold spot which needed energy but it did feel very different and it was only after he said he didn't want it anyway that I then thought it was down to it be rejected, which for me makes sense especially with him being the way he is. It really did just feel like it wasn't going anywhere. No, I know he's not rejected his mothers love and that it is the higher spirit who would accept it regardless but I do just think he's not ready for it or for changes it could bring him. I feel it's a shame but that's not really my issue if it the case.

Another case is my sister, we've fallen out as she was being really nasty to me. She has a lot of anger issues along with past pent up agression & hurt. Now in this case I do feel that I could send the reiki without asking her permission and just ask that it be recieved for the higher good. Personally I don't see anything wrong with that. However, I don't feel ready to do that at the minute but when i do then I'll start the process.

In that view there is a contrast between having to ask and gain acceptance. My Reiki Master told me that it was kind of the same as sending reiki to a world situation for example. The occurance may be happening because it needs to but by asking for it to be sent for the highest good it's ok and would only accept it if it was required. You can do no harm with it even if it's a situation where you can't gain acceptance for that issue.

I do understand that reiki flows on pretty much constant basis (can feel it now just talking about it - my palms are getting really hot :)). Which makes sense that it flows if someone needs it even though your not aware of it.

It's funny the way people are with it though. There was a girl at work yesterday who was having really bad pmt symptoms, asked if I could help (they know about it), but she didn't want it. If it were my I'd def be saying yes but I realise everyone is different.

Still a bit confused though as to what may have happened with this girl therapist and why after being with me she seems to have these feeling/dreams. Do you think it is down to the reiki? If it is then why would her higher self be drawing/accpeting it if it's then causing her some kind of distress?

I do however feel like I'm melting sometimes whilst giving a massage, to be fair the room is hot but I do feel it a lot more than the other therapists, could this be the reiki being drawn even though I'm not intentionally giving it?

Thanks for all your comments & I am def enjoying what I've experienced myself so far....still quite unexperienced and curious as always

Curious

What the women experienced with the ghost like woman dream and not being able to move is called sleep paralysis - google it for more information - also check out hypnagogia. What happens is you wake up but your body still thinks its asleep for a few seconds so you can't move and it feels like your dream is still continuing - many people experience a presence in the room too which explains the ghost like woman. also you can't speak which is quite scary. I've experiences this on many occasions and isn't linked to reiki but it occurs more in people with depression, who have sleeping problems in general, and those who sleep on their backs. Some people might only get in the once.

I trained in massage before I trained in Reiki but since doing reiki i have noticed that my hands get very hot during massage treatments now and energy flows wiothout me intentionally giving reiki.

Curious, re the situation with your sister: why not send Reiki, not to your sister, but to the situation? Reiki heals situations too you know!

You could use the distance symbol to send Reiki to the cause of the situation, or to any manifestations of the discord between you that come to your mind. It will help.

Re the young man who consciously blocked the Reiki. Sometimes people will do this and it's quite disrespectful, I feel.

As to whether to offer Reiki to someone. It's quite ethical to offer Reiki. If they say "no" then don't give it - but how are they to know you can offer it unless you tell them?

I had a situation where a friend of mine injured her ankle, and I just happened to see her while she was resting after the first aid team had seen her. I said to her "if you'd like any Reiki just let me know" and made to leave. She didn't say "yes" - but something said a very loud "yes" so I put my hand on her shoulder, just for a few seconds. She started talking (sometimes that happens) while she received the Reiki, and her face lit up. Later when I saw her, her face lit up too and it was clear she had received some healing, even with 5 seconds worth of Reiki!.
