Hi there,
Im interested in level one attunement (if i can find a master in Liverpool).
I am doing an introduction to reiki course, but the lady leading it doesn't seem to want to tell me what happens during attunement - can anyone tell me more about what i should expect?
My course tutor says it takes all day and includes lunch, but other people say you can do it in a few hours....
Any information gratefully recieved.

Nope no big secret it's just some of us have a little trouble trying to put our thoughts 'onto paper' so to speak...

I agree with Stormdeva, it has hard to put it into words..:eek: but I'll try & explain what happened to me!
I was taken through the history of Reiki, Chakras & Auras were explained and we did some practice on feeling auras. Taught about Metaphisics and how your actions & thoughts create your life (was very inspiring). We then had a meditation session to clear our chakras and were taken through to be attuned. (I dont know what the Reiki Master did as I had my eyes closed but it felt hot & tingly!! :D)
We were then taught Hatsu Rei which is a technique to help build up & strengthen your link to the energy & were then given an empowerment (again eyes closed - felt even hotter!!!!)
We were then taken through methods of self-healing & treatments - then did some practising!!
It was truly amazing & I enjoyed every bit of it - am on Day 2 of self-healing (you are advised to do it for 21 days to gain strength in connection).
Hope this helps! Reiki Masters do differ & they put their own training package into place so other people may have different experiences 🙂

Just to add a few words to poppy angel's fascinating account of her day:
An attunement by a Reiki Master basically connects the student to the energy source, and is quite largely a visualisation process on the part of the Master.
Diane Stein (? sp.) goes into this in some detail in her book Essential Reiki (see the thread on Reiki books at the top of the list). Not everyone agrees with her writings, but you will find varying accounts of Reiki throughout - in books, posts in this forum and others, and as poppy angel quite rightly says,
Reiki Masters do differ & they put their own training package into place so other people may have different experiences

Thanks so much for all your replies - i am beginning to understand more about it now and from reading other threads more about guides and angels (not really sure i'm into that part of it though)

Dear Venice,
Guides and Angels aren't really anything to do with Reiki, and you don't have to acknowledge their existence in order to practise Reiki. They are just non-Reiki subjects that some Reiki Teachers have decided to include on their courses (or they were taught that way and have continued that tradition).
To practise Reiki you do not need to work with Angels and you don't need to go through "meet your guide" meditations or work with guides. It's your choice.
Maybe try and find a teacher who does not focus on that stuff if you don't feel you're into it.
I would recommend that you find a teacher that you feel comfortable with, and don't just restrict yourself to one small geographical area. If you visit my web site you can request a "guide to choosing a Reiki teacher" that gives you some suggestions about what to think about/ask.
