I'm am going to schedule my first appointment for Reiki - I don't know what to expect, think or feel or what will happen. I'm going to be as open minded as I can to receive and learn from whatever I experience. Can anyone provide any info on what it is I should be looking for or taking with me when my treatment has been completed?

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve

What a lovely posting!

Just turn up, relax and enjoy yourself.

Reiki is done fully clothed. You will lie on a couch (or sit) while the therapist moves his or her hands on or over your body. You may have to turn over after a while.

As to what to look for or take with you after the session, you should feel wonderfully relaxed. More than that I cannot say!

Just go with an open mind, and go with the flow!

Take water with you, although they might provide it there. Invaluable!

Hi Steve,

You might find this book helpful:

Your Reiki Treatment: How to get the most out of it by Frans and Bronwen Stiene.

It's well written and full of great, down to earth advice on getting the most from your treatment: before, during and after.

Enjoy your treatment and take care!

Allison xx

I loved it

I went to my first Reiki treatment - and as I said, I went with an open mind. I will be getting another one. I had no idea it would be so wonderful. I felt at peace with myself after it, calm and serene.
It was a no hands, but yet, I could feel sensations in my body even though my eyes were covered and I knew she wasn't touching me at all. If fact, I asked her if she touched me as I could feel these waves interacting with my body. I went into a deep meditative state for a brief time while on the table too. She asked me questions about my life and it became very spiritual for me, the things we discussed. She was very empathic and seemed to know how and why I had such turmoil stored in my body. Much of that turmoil seemed to be released during the treatment as I felt so much better, emotionally and spiritually after the treatment.
I am going to have another as soon as I can arrange it with my schedule. I had no idea it would be so beneficial and don't know why I waited so long to have the first, but I think I had to go through a lot of things to get me to Reiki - and that I was guided to it by the strangest conversation in the strangest place. That has been happening a lot - I am being guided toward certain things and my world has been expanding and it has been challenging as there are questions I'm asking myself that I would never have even thought of before. So, I started following the 'breadcrumbs' that were laid out in front of me and I'm still walking along finding more - but I think Reiki will help me along my path

That's great news Steve.

I'm glad that you found it worthwhile and kept an open mind.
The benefits can be amazing and life changing if you choose to continue on the Reiki path.

She also

She also said she thought I may have potential to study Reiki, but we need to have a few more visits before she can confirm. It seems fastinating but I would need to know more about it -She seemed sincere too, not just trying to get me to come back. And she was a most wonderful person, a great personality and full of life.

In truth, everyone has the potential to bring Reiki into their life. It seems to be a case of it comes and finds you when the time is right. Sounds very much like Reiki has come to find you. The Reiki Master sounds like a genuine master who just wants to ensure that a) you understand a little more about what Reiki is about and b) the master/student relationship will be a good one so that you can benefit as much as possible.

Keep is informed how you get on.

Love and Reiki Hugs

Hi Steve

Personally I think that anyone can learn Reiki, and wouldn't recruit in this fashion. I would always offer any of my clients training if they felt they would like it. Is she trying to get her money's worth out of you before she trains you to heal yourself so you don't need her?

Sorry to be so cynical!

Going back

I enjoyed my first Reiki so much, I'm going back for another one tomorrow. I'm hoping to get that same feeling I had after the first one - one of peace and contentment.
You're right Judy, Reiki found me when I needed it and I need it again.
