Hi, I am sorry if these questions have appeared before, I have had a brief read through the forum but the discussions which are relevant all appear to be a bit too intelligent for me to understand!

Now this attempt to have my questions answered is going to come across as very garbled as I am not entirely sure what it is I am trying to ask but I am hoping that it will become clear as I type.

I am attuned to reiki 2. I have never before wanted to become a master/teacher of reiki until now. The reason I think this has changed is this; I have decided to set up a reiki share and now I am realising I would like to have more knowledge about reiki. Obviously I don't need to become a master or a teacher to do this, I can just learn more about it on my own. The reason I feel drawn towards (possibly) doing more training is because upon talking to people about reiki they have mentioned they would like to learn it and for the first time ever, I have thought about being the one who could teach them (if I gained my further degrees). I have problems with the idea of gaining my degrees and then teaching for these reasons;

  • I am amazed by how expensive it is to learn reiki - especially at the higher levels
  • I already struggle with charging for reiki as I don't feel that something which is supposedly 'universal energy' should cost when surely it is already part of us and our world/universe and therefore should be available to all of us whatever our financial situation. (However, I realise our bills need to be paid and plus the reason I feel uncomfortable about the cost of learning it is because I can't afford it!!!)
  • Would I feel uncomfortable charging people to learn it too?
  • And finally, do we actually even need to be attuned to reiki in the first place? Are we not actually capable of healing by intent alone?

Another little side question is, how come reiki comes through in my left hand more readily and painfully and if we are to ask the person's permission before chanelling reiki through to them then why does it flow through me at a drop of a hat even though I haven't called upon it?

Now please don't shoot me down. I am not feeling particularly articulate or robust today (sleep deprivation combined with a sickness bug is my excuse) and so may well not be expressing myself very clearly.... hence the post title of Confusion.. perhaps I should have titled it General Confusion :p

🙂

I’m not going to answer any of the specifically Reiki questions – there are many on HP who know far more than I about it. But this particular question could apply to many forms of healing.
As far as I am concerned, it is right to do only healing for those who have asked for it. Who are we to know where someone else’s path leads and what is right for them? But energy flows because that is what energy does. ‘Reiki energy’ is energy. Like water it flows. If you open a sluice then water will flow through it. The intention, the ‘calling’, is in opening yourself to the energy.
If you are finding that you can’t ‘close the sluice’ when you want to, then you need to work on those boundaries.

This is just a natural progression. Enjoy the journey!!

  • I am amazed by how expensive it is to learn reiki - especially at the higher levels

Is it? Depends what is expensive and who is teaching it. Not all teachers are expensive. Personally I charge the same amount for any Reiki level or any therapy subject I may teach. It's about being fair, rather than a spiritual pyramid selling scheme.

Just see the energy is for free but your time isn't. The money that is earned from Reiki practice can help to support you which then can support others and be generous. Money is just a unit of exchange based on the value we give it.

  • Would I feel uncomfortable charging people to learn it too?

Only you can answer that question. Most people are honest and geniune and will wish to give you money, whether you want it or not. Allowing people to be generous is part of their spiritual practice. Allowing yourself to receive gifts for your actions is part of yours.

  • And finally, do we actually even need to be attuned to reiki in the first place? Are we not actually capable of healing by intent alone?

Aww, big question. Yes we can heal by intent alone. The thing about any healing system, Reiki or otherwise, is that the techinques, formats, teachings and so forth help us to develop as healers/practitioners. Most of us (including me) need to start from somewhere.

Another little side question is, how come reiki comes through in my left hand more readily and painfully

Reiki is said to be uni-polar in nature, but humans are polarised. So often the left non-dominate hand is more sensitive as it is more receptive. The Right dominate hand isn't so sensitive but more active. But Reiki will flow though both hands and you are just feeling the differences in the way energy flows though your body. This statement is just a rule of thumb and varies amongst different practitioners. In a teaching situation I would allow the student to discover which is the receptive/active hand or if they are more or less balanced in both. Some healing systems utilise the hand polarity.

and if we are to ask the person's permission before chanelling reiki through to them then why does it flow through me at a drop of a hat even though I haven't called upon it?

Do you have to ask permission? In what circumstance? It flows though you because the innate compassion in you to which to help others.

🙂

I hope that helps.

Best wishes

RP

Hi
Questions are very important especially when going on to a masters.
We'll all have different answer but that's the beauty of Reiki.

  • I am amazed by how expensive it is to learn reiki - especially at the higher levels

Masters invest a huge amount of time and energy in their students and courses and it is right that this is compensated. Reiki courses are professional courses and actually you will find that they are much much cheaper than other professional courses.

Charging for Reiki, for me, helps the healing. Those who invest in their healing actually have much better responses to Reiki than those who invest nothing. They appreciate the healing and want it to work much deeper and faster. Like anything - we appreciate what we pay for. Sad but true. Also if I charge people I am able to help those who can't pay the full fee, or any fee. If I don't charge I cannot work as a healer.

  • Would I feel uncomfortable charging people to learn it too?

The choice to charge is personal but if you do charge it does not interfere in your spiritual vision. Money is just energy like any other energy,

  • And finally, do we actually even need to be attuned to reiki in the first place? Are we not actually capable of healing by intent alone?

We can all heal by intent, if we so wish. But Reiki is a particular energy and not a general word for healing and we do need a master to attune us to this energy.

Another little side question is, how come reiki comes through in my left hand more readily and painfully

Often we feel Reiki more in one hand at first as that is our main hand, but in time both hands will be as powerful and sensitive as each other.

and if we are to ask the person's permission before chanelling reiki through to them then why does it flow through me at a drop of a hat even though I haven't called upon it?
We ask permission because we have no right to interfere in people's lives and force them to change. We are not Reiki dictators! I teach my students skills to turn Reiki on and off so this never happens with them. They only heal when they are ready.

And no need to apologise for your post - all posts help us to question ourselves and thus grow.

Kindest regards,
Christina

Thank you Reiki Pixie, ChristinaM and Crowan for your replies. In the main you have reiterated what my reiki master originally taught me when doing the first two degrees.

and if we are to ask the person's permission before chanelling reiki through to them then why does it flow through me at a drop of a hat even though I haven't called upon it?

I have to say, I am inclined to agree with RP here. I was taught to turn it off and am able to do this but I guess I feel that if it is coming through and it is for the highest good AND the higher self of the person I am treating (with reflexology or massage etc) is in acceptance then who am I to intervene?

For example it is coming through now (and I am presuming my laptop's higher self is ok with it :D) and has been pretty much constantly since I have began trying to organise a reiki share a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for your comment about my asking questions Christine 🙂 - I have always had a cynical/sceptical/questioning streak in me - my teachers ever since school have generally find me frustrating it would seem...

And regarding the cost of the courses, one course I have seen recently to do the Master & Teacher degree cost £700. Which considering even finding £100 for a course would be pushing it at the moment, means that all of this is rather hypothetical coz I ain't gonna be doing a course anytime soon! :rollaugh:

My ten penceworth:

I am amazed by how expensive it is to learn reiki - especially at the higher levels

[COLOR="Blue"]People charge what they feel their teaching is worth, they have costs in terms of producing manuals, hiring a venue etc. and for master teacher it is not uncommon for a Reiki teacher to invite their students to sit in on and deliver content in their other Reiki classes to gain experience. Besides you would expect to pay more for a Diploma or degree course than you would for an 'A' level course wouldn't you?

I already struggle with charging for reiki as I don't feel that something which is supposedly 'universal energy' should cost when surely it is already part of us and our world/universe and therefore should be available to all of us whatever our financial situation. (However, I realise our bills need to be paid and plus the reason I feel uncomfortable about the cost of learning it is because I can't afford it!!!)
Would I feel uncomfortable charging people to learn it too?

[COLOR="blue"]I too agree with the concept that you are charging for your time & your experience and also inviting the recipient to participate in their own healing during a reiki treatment. (I had an experience recently where I was offering 15 minute and 30 minute taster treatments and part way through a 15 minute taster the client asked to extend it to the 30 minute taster as she felt she was "worth it" - her attitude gave me food for thought.) Similarly in teaching reiki you would be charging for your time, the cost of producing manuals/resources & printing certificates, hiring a suitable venue and your knowledge and experience.

And finally, do we actually even need to be attuned to reiki in the first place? Are we not actually capable of healing by intent alone?
[COLOR="blue"]
I see reiki as the means of 'tuning' in to our innate healing ability and connecting us to a source we can tap into so we don't expend/deplete our own energy

Another little side question is, how come reiki comes through in my left hand more readily and painfully and if we are to ask the person's permission before chanelling reiki through to them then why does it flow through me at a drop of a hat even though I haven't called upon it?

[COLOR="blue"]My left hand (and my left foot too) are more sensitive to the point that I have developed a callous in the middle of my left palm and the sole of my left foot! The more reiki I do the redder the patches get 😀

Thank you meurighj, yes I guess when you take in the cost of materials and venue etc (plus time) it does stand to reason one would charge to teach. Maybe my issue is with reiki itself.. oh god .. I wonder why I am challenging it now when only today I gave a (free!) treatment to a friend and experienced it's wonderfulness (told you I am not very eloquent today ) as did she. She cried afterwards.

Hi Delighted

These questions are more to do with you, than Reiki!

You say that you consider the price of learning to heal to be high, then you question if you are good enough to charge people to receive your healing services!

Have you not considered that you can earn the money that you need to pay for further tuition through utilising what you have already invested your time and money in?

Why do you feel all right charging for Reflexology which is just a different way of applying healing but not feel comfortable to charge for healing using the Reiki modality?

As for attunements, the reality is that everyone is capable of creating a healing flow and putting in the time and effort to learn how to apply it without an attunement, an attunement connects you to the modality, the healing flow comes from within.

What people can't do without some form of connection, is work with a healing modality, so if you wish to practice the Reiki way of healing, then you need a Reiki attunement and instructions in the way the Reiki modality works, if you wish to learn Gaia-Now then you need a connection to the Gaia-Now modality and some instruction in the way the modality works.

The healing flow comes from you, the healing modalities and their teachings comes from someone else who already possesses it. 🙂

I know, I know... ok, I shall retreat and do some meditating (in the bath with chocolate and wine... what? That's not how you meditate...? Dammit!) and think about my questions, your answers and ultimately my answers...

Thank you all once again for your input 🙂

Reiki For Muslims _An Islamic Therapy

(Its not a religious concept of therapy but a non religious approach towards healing.Due to lots of misunderstandings ,misconceptions & wrong beliefs about reiki , i have specified my reiki style specially for Muslims)
Reiki is the technique in which we shift vital energy through hands on healing & at distance too.
As it is considered that every living thing has different energy centers in his body ,& illness is caused by imbalances & blockage in these energy centers.
So the person can be cured by balancing these energy centers & by eliminating any blockages which causes energy to not flowing properly in the body.
It is used to recover all problems physical ,emotional & psychological in nature.
Person gets relieved at once after reiki session .
Even cancer patients are taking benefits from it.
But the problem is the usage of different symbols in reiki which in fact don't have any clear meanings but creates a lot of contradictions.
The uniqueness of my reiki ,is its non symbolic attunement & healing technique.
Everyone has this healing power in him .What i have to do is to make him realize & to get him proper guideline to attune him self so that he can use this gift at hand to heal himself & others.
