When you are doing your client consultation what type of questions do you ask?
Are there any contra-indications for reiki appart from things like broken bone?
Thanks 🙂
I suspect this question is one of the things VTCT have set.
IME as a Reiki Master, there are no contra-indications with Reiki. Reiki can only do good, and so even if you use it on someone with a broken bone, it will only do good for that bone.
The only contra-indication I use is to never give Reiki to someone who doesn't want it. Only give Reiki with the recipient's permission.
ICBW!

How do you regard "recipient's permission" as being given?
Two things to ask here - one is about sending distant healing to someone who is ill. They haven't asked for the Reiki, but you feel prompted to send.
The second is the circumstances that someone asks for Reiki 'sometime', and you give Reiki when they're unaware of it but physically there. Is that giving Reiki with the recipient's permission?
These are from two real examples - one is a family member who is terminally ill, the other was me as recipient.
Not sure about others but this is what I do. Whilst making my connection and setting my intent I ask that:
The healing is accepted by the person's higher self and if it is not wanted, for the energy to go into the world for the highest good of all.
And that the healing is given to the person at a time most suited to them.
I do this regardless of the Reiki being requested by a specific person (on a specific time or for a specific event, or if somebody says 'sometimes' you can send me Reiki) or by somebody else.
Just to clarify what I said earlier:
When sending distant healing, I do try and ask for permission before I send it. I do this "distantly", that is, just as I start to do the healing. The first time I did this, it was for my pregnant sister-in-law. To my surprise, I got the image of a woman in a white coat, in what looked like a hospital. She was wearing glasses and had her hair in a bun, and she was carrying a clipboard. She quite clearly said to me that Gaynor was fine and that the baby was also fine, and that I could visit her later. I took that to mean "no"!
My understanding is that if you ask, you will know if the distant recipient wants healing.
I also send distant healing with the intent that, if the intended recipient does not want it now, that it goes into a "healing bank" for the recipient to access when they do want the healing.
Or sometimes I send it with the intent that, if unwanted, the healing should go to the Earth.
Hope this helps.
Thank you, Jobelle and ChrisRams - that has helped me. It has also reminded me that I ought to get back into the habit of going to Reiki shares because things like "for the person's highest good" are always said there, and I had forgotten that.
To get back on track to the original post - and being reminded of this in the Crystal forum - would epilepsy be considered a contra-indication?
