Hi Everyone:
Does anyone who can see the subtle field around people know what the aura looks like in areas that are arthritic? My own perception is that arthritic areas show up as inflamed, cloudy and pale or light gray in color. Does anyone else have an opinion on this? Thanks.

Yes.
My opinion, as someone who has been actively clairvoyant all of his life (47+ years), is that if such perceptions by human beings were scientifically valid, then they would be actively employed in hospitals.
The circumstance inhibiting the validity of the observations is that we as living, sentient beings, are in a constant state of growth and continually perceive reality in new ways -- even though sometimes everything seems to be the same. Because our growth changes our perception, we never see exactly the same thing another person sees.
Barbara Brennan authored Hands Of Light many years ago, illustrating quite well what she perceived to be illnesses as represented in the aura. She then went on to start a very successful school teaching the techniques in the book, and that school is doing well even today (some 20+ years later)... but there was a change.
The book suggests with great motivation that we can perceive physical problems in the body through the aura and that there is a science behind it. I believe that was the basis for starting her school, but after a time that changed from one of scientific medical observation of the aura to one of personal transformation.
A circumstance that complicates the validity of the observations is that when a person is spiritually well-balanced and has reached a point in their life where they are in harmony with their past and present, illnesses of the body are no longer visible in the aura.
For example, many teachers now recognized as enlightened or illuminated beings suffered terrible physical disease of the body -- and in some cases, by expectations and standards of today -- would be considered seriously screwed up in their head. Shunryu Suzuki, founder of the San Francisco Zen Center, had a terrible temper and would sometimes beat a student to the floor with the keisaku (the stick that is supposed to be used within the zendo). He died a slow death of cancer. Chögyam Trungpa, founder of Shambhala ( [DLMURL="http://www.shambhala.org/teachers/chogyam-trungpa.php"]Chögyam Trungpa - Shambhala[/DLMURL] ), was an alcoholic who was also addicted to his female students... he is known to have had sex with many of them during official spiritual counseling sessions. (on the side: I met more than a few people who attended some of his lectures and they jokingly refered to him as "Chug-a-Lug Rinpoche".) Trungpa died from alcoholism. Both of those individuals had serious problems, both physical and mental, both of them harmed other human beings, and both were perfectly illuminated spiritual beings.
So, once a person is "enlightened", something that is becoming more and more common today, the less likely it is for a human being to be able to perceive disorders and illnesses of the physical body.
Perfectly Illuminated Human beings?
...both of them harmed other human beings, and both were perfectly illuminated spiritual beings.
I think these words are very contradictory. Some people are very aware but still have a highly developed ego and have obviously not transcended their human desires. I consider my teacher to be enlightened, and his behaviors are impeccable. He has realized perfection on every level.
Regarding Barbara Brennan, I have read both her major books, and she does not specifically deal with the auric manifestations of arthritis.
I like what you say about changing realities and perceptions. But the aura, like the physical body, functions according to certain laws (it is after all a subtle form of "matter" because it has shape and texture). I think it is quite correct to analyze and quantify these qualities if you are a healer for instance.
Thanks for your efforts and your reply,
