Just want some advice from like minded souls please! ( sorry if its the completely wrong forum)
I am a reiki practitioner (and emapth)and i started a new job last march. On my first week i was told i would be working with an advisor in another department on some of my cases. I knew before i even met this man there would be a strong connection between us. I met him and he was not what i was expecting, however we got along great from the word go. I dont see him often but we communicate fairy regualry through work via emai or telephone. I always looked forward to having to contact him about one of our joint cases as he is great at what he does and treats out client with kindness and respect, I only occasionally see him face to face.
On one of our lengthy telephone call ( 10 mins work 50 mins everything else!) about 3 months ago, I discovered he too was a reiki practitioner, we had a great conversation about Reiki and i offered to send him distance healing as he was having some issues and was feeling down, ( I had sensed this , so i made an excuse to call him this particular day). During the distace healing i picked up quite alot from him but the upshot is I now cannot get this man out of my head. I am a sensible practical lady I am also experiencced practitioner.who in 23 years of marriage has never looked at another man ( this guy is quite a bit older than me and not exactly george clooney!)Why on earth am i suddenly getting such powerful thoughts about him, they are so strong i swear i can almost feel him touching me, to be honest its quite amazing I have never experienced such a thing from any one I have ever healed before. IHe has never consciously given me any clue that he sees me in any way other than a colleague, so why do i feel this link to him is so powerful -it can stop me in my tracks at times, please can some one give me a clue as to why this person has affected me so
Thank you in advance x

Hi wildheart

Welcome to the forum. 🙂

When we heal, we completely merge with the person that we are healing, when the healing session is finished we disconnect unless there is a good reason not to, as in continuing making adjustments for a while, just state your intention to disconnect yourself completely from this person and actionate the intention with going and washing your hands and visualise the conscious connection going, you will know when you are disconnected, for the feelings that you have been creating through your thought process will stop.

Our thoughts orchestrate our life experience, you are attaining the thought goal that you have set for yourself, this person is not having any effect upon you, this is something that you have decided to experience for yourself, it is up to you to disconnect and change your own mind. 😉

Please ask yourself, what is lacking within the fullness of self that you are trying to fulfil in this way?

Thank you Paul, a very sensible and grounded response. What i needed to hear, its true I do have "fulfillment" issues going on in life, which clearly has affected my normal sensible and practical self. Im sure this poor chap would have a fit if he had any idea what has been going on in my head:o

Welcome here friend
The attraction that is being felt is also mystifying you. You recognize that the attraction is out of character. IThis strong attraction is not yours, you are tuned in the attraction that this friend feels for you. Empathy is causing you to internalise his feelings. He is perhaps some taken by you. when you recognize that, you will find that it all falls back in place.
It happens, and it should be freely allowed. You, your thoughts etc are not causing yourself to feel the attraction for him, Your empathy is the reason you feel what you feel - especially if you are quite bewildered by this occurance as well.
Your worry is understandable. It does not have to develop into anything at all. It has crept into your awareness as this friend's energy is moving that way. As you allow this attraction without holding back or flinching with in yourself, opening your heart to it, you will find that his feelings will find balance. within your friend.
It is an extension of the healing connection that has been established. It is pure movement of energy. Allow it with open heart. It will pass and this person and yourself will be more balanced and centred once it does. It is hardly romantic...if that makes sense
hope this rambling makes sense

Thank you Junani
He is really not my type at all thats what i found odd , but the strange feeling I got when i first was told his name,, again was something i have not had before. I liked him immediately on meeting him but was not attracted to him. that only happened after the healing occurred. Our energy work sure throws us some curve balls!

Oh my...this realization has come to my only recently...and I'm 63 (slow learner). You're so right about feeling their feelings not yours. I mention being a hermit often because of this.

But let me throw another thought into the mix...we may have conections to people from past lives? We may have been friends, lovers or mates. We could have been their child or their parent?

It's hard to be empathic. There is a chapter in " the Martian Chronicles" (an old science fiction book) about a little being that was an empath. I recommend it as a warning to all empaths. I'm sorry, I just moved and can't find the book or I would tell you the chapter.

Glad to know I'm not alone.

I am not a provider, but a recipient of reiki. My provider never told me he was using it on me when he did trigger point massage therapy for my fibromylagia/chronic myofascial pain complex. I have been seeing him pretty much weekly for just over a year and was experiencing the same thing with him that Wildheart experienced with her colleague. I also have been married 23 yrs. and never had this issue before. Also, my provider is gay. I am aware that my mental attraction is caused by the euphoria brought on by the reiki. I believe he has opened channels that release hormones, et al, that parallel what one feels when falling in love. Because I have a background in psychology and health education which includes human sexuality and it's physiology, I was aware that what I was experiencing was not normal and thought I was having a physiological response to the endorphins being released. I was in an almost constant state of euphoria for a year. I recently asked my provider if he was doing reiki and if so, that I thought there was a problem as the connection was so strong, even during the week between sessions. We had actually gotten quite friendly, as we are the same age and have a similar sense of humor and time reference. Since I approached him about this, he hardly talks to me. He has stopped doing reiki and I leave our sessions feeling empty instead of bursting at the euphoric seams. However, he is still in my head, although it's been over 3 weeks since he stopped doing reiki. If anyone can help, I would be very grateful! The suggestions here are good, but since he refuses to talk to me about it, I'm not sure what to do. I have been going for massage over 30 yrs. and he is the best therapist I have ever found. I hate to stop seeing him, but don't know how else to get him out of my head. It was not a problem until it got to be too much for me to handle and I finally asked him about it. It did not go well, as I feared. Should I just try to find someone else? I found this site when looking for answers and was thrilled to find someone else was going through this, though I am sorry you have to experience it. I have been analyzing this for the last year, but didn't know why it was going on until I learned a few weeks ago that he was doing reiki during massage. I need to get some closure whether I walk away or not. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

I have found the answer to the questions here, at least from a physiological aspect. In looking for answers, I came upon the following article that explains it well. Basically, being happy and being in love have a similar response. Though your brain may know that you are not having emotions for the reiki provider, et al, your body is responding as if you were, because happiness and love have an almost identical physiological response. Read the article. It explains it all!

Gut feelings? Cold feet? Body maps show where emotions go | Cutting Edge - CNET News

It has been 6 weeks since my provider stopped the reiki and my euphoria is completely gone. I am going to share this information with him, because as a provider, he should know how his patients are responding to his treatment. Because of having fibromyalgia, I have always been prone to having adverse side effects from different treatments I've tried over the years. Who knew reiki could have that kind of extreme side effect.

Even if no one ever responds, you have all been a big help and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Bless you!
