My daughter is 33 weeks pregnant (:DI'm so excited!) and for the past 4 weeks has had a horrible inner ear virus/infection and is awaiting an appointment at ENT to sort it out.
She is visiting us this weekend and having just had a nice facial and foot massage, I had a poke around at a few reflexes. I did bronchials and lungs as she has had asthma for a few months following flu in May, diaphram and solar plexus (just because!) and then did the eustachian tube, eyes and ears because she is so sick and dizzy.
WELL!!
She was nattering away throughout but as soon as I touched the ear reflex she went completely dizzy. It stopped after some solar plexus stuff and then I did the other foot - she had no idea which reflex was which - and the same thing happened. Profoundly dizzy when the ear reflex is lightly touched.
I didn't know what to do though, so stopped. Should I have carried on working it or should I have stopped?
She is fine now, it only lasted a minute or so but it was certainly interesting (and I was quite chuffed for the confirmation that I know where the ear reflex is !!!!)
So please can you tell me whether to keep working it or leave it alone
Thanks

Hi Melanie,
If I was in your situation, I would continue treatment as I think reactions like that are part of the healing process & possibly a form of "healing crisis". Perhaps slightly less pressure on these reflexes would be more comfortable for both of you ??
I had a similar reaction when having reflex while pg with DD. I'd had regular reflex since before I was pregnant and kept it up right throughout my pregnancy. I'd always managed to lie back, relax and doze off through my treatment. This changed when I was about 30weeks pregnant and experienced severe dizziness, nausea and "hot flushes" when Rosie went near my stomach and transverse colon reflexes. It happened very suddenly and passed quite quickly but it was alarming because I'd never had reactions like that before. I kept up my treatments because I felt so wonderful afterwards & (in hindsight) feel that it contributed to my very quick labour & very laid back daughter 🙂
Wishing your daughter all the best for the rest of her pregnancy!
