Just wondering if anyone has come across this before. I was working on a case study the other night and as I was working on his big toe at the very tip he told me it felt weird. He reported a tingling or a numb sensation. It was only there while I was in contact with him as soon as I moved to the next refelx point it stopped. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.
Hi,
From a physiological point of view there are two nerves (one either side of the big toe) which split and meet in smaller fibres at the tip of the toe,
My guess is that you were putting pressure on the tip of the toe, or at the base of the toe, affecting the nerve.
You can cause a similar sensation in your arm if you lean on your elbow for too long.
David:)
As Davidmh said, it could have been a compressed nerve or it could have been that they felt a rush of energy in that area - perhaps there was a blockage which you unblocked. Has he experienced the sensation before?
It could be,as suggested a compressed nerve in the pysical foot, but from a Reflexology point you are also working the BRAIN reflex, anything in the consultation show problems here??,or is your client on certain medication,eg antidepressants??
thanks guys, the nerve being under pressure sounds most likely. Starr99, nothing to report regarding the brain. He has no problems and does not suffer headaches etc. It has never happened before. I have put it inot the case study and will see my tutor tomorrow so I will mention it to her. Thanks again.
