I am studying at home Reflexology (not to do professionally) and was wondered how would some of you define the meaning of Reflexology?
I just want to get people's views on this.

Aha, we meet again AngelEyes :). The definition we got when training was that 'reflexology is the technique of applying gentle pressure to reflex points on the feet and hands to bring about a state of deep relaxation, stimulate the body's own healing process and help a person return to a state of balance and well-being'.

Here's the definition we were told:
Reflexology is a science based on the principle that there are reflex areas in the hands and feet which correspond to every organ, gland and part of the body. Reflexology is a unique method of using the thumbs and fingers to work on these areas and directly affect the health of the corresponding body part .
Or something like that 🙂

I would agree with Sulis, it is very similar to how Eunice Ingham describes reflexology.

mind you, although i was taught more or less that wording, i have a problem with the use of the word science... i prefer to say technique or therapy...

Rosie, I have a problem with the word 'science' too - in my leaflets I say that reflexology is a holistic therapy.
