RE: Reflex for IBS
Hi Rakhee,
What have you done so far?, hows it going to date?
as a general approach I would work all of the systems, paying particular attention to digestive, lower thoracic and lumbar, groin, nervous system and use lots of relaxation techniques to reduce stress levels. As well as all this I would be looking to understand the root cause of the IBS( inc emotional links). Dependant on the Client I may also refer to a Kinesiology colleague to test for allergies/intolerances.
hope this helps!

RE: Reflex for IBS
Hi
I would concentrate on the reducing stress so include adrenals and solar plexus with lots of relaxation movements. In addition as a direct reflex work the large intestine and as secondary reflexes work the small intestine, liver, gall bladder, pancreas and lower spine.
Hope this is of interest.
RE: Reflex for IBS
thank you for your replies
Lisa, the client is someone new who is coming to me on Friday so have not worked on them before but I did think it would be to relax them and work on solar plexus and do a lot of relaxing stuff.
Thanks
RE: Reflex for IBS
i'd also use more gentle techniques, no hooking in particularly the digestive system. as treatments progress, you can gauge the depth and strength of prods.
RE: Reflex for IBS
You guys have pretty much said it all! Rakhee, I know it sounds really basic but check how hydrated they are and what their diet is like, possible food intolerances, and also stress levels and emotional stuff. I've had great results with clients with IBS, and I think reflexology is a wonderful therapy for this complaint. Good luck!

thank u all for your replies - greatly appreciated.
Client is coming this evening so shall see what they say
RE: Reflex for IBS
i didnt also say that my ulcerative colitis client has responded well to treatments and what came out mostly was her coming to terms with how it started and why it was continuing... we believe there was trauma and continuing stress. flare ups seem to occur when the stressor activates again.
