Hi Star
Let us know how you get on with her, won't you!
Hi S99
Forgotten to mention that treating adrenal & hypothalamus/pituitary reflex is also backed by scientific research (unfortunately can't remembered where) suggesting that there is a problem with the adrenal-hypothalamus/pituitary axis. But as CN suggests there can be problems with the krelps cycle in cellular respiration. I think there was some psychological research on ME, and the conclusion that ME people have issues with the opposite gender parent. make whatever you like from that?!?!
Personally I don't think there is a simple solution to ME. Better to treat the whole person (body & mind) based on symptoms presented.
Has anyone met a ME person that before becoming ill was lazy? They all seem to me highly driven active individuals before ME. A symptom of nervous/adrenal burn out?

That's really weird you mention this RP, my cousin has never had a proper job, always preferred the easy dole money 😡 then was lucky enough to marry twice, to men who earned a good deal of money. She does have a thyroid problem, but can walk around town all day, shopping. I know M.E exists I know of people that do have it, but how can I help this one or even help herself !!

JoJo. correct me if I am wrong here but are you saying that both you and your cousin have ME and that you do not want to get better yourself
Hi JJ
You sure that your cousin has ME? wink, wink 😉 not just milking it?
Anycase all jokes aside, since thyroid (I assume hypothyroidism in this case) can cause an "energyless" condition maybe it's misdiagnosised, and who made the diagnosis of ME in the first place?
Best Wishes

RP I hate for anyone to think that I don't believe in this illness, I really do, but yes I do think that of my cousin !
Yes Hypothyroidism and yes I do think its been misdiagnosed, she has severe depression always has done. She was diagnosed by someone in Barts hospital I believe, by asking her a few questions ! I really have my doubts about it, you really cannot do all what she does and have this debilitating illness 🙁
Hi Star
Just back from holiday so late answering this thread.
I have had it for 14 years now and spent the first few years bedridden in dark room etc etc but it was having reflexology that got me walking again! YAY!!! treatments twice a week for 6 weeks and I did 10 feet. It was wonderful. I continued with weekly then fortnightly treatments for 2 years and also seeung a nutrition expert, till the money ran out and both have been wonderful. Your lady is doing the right thing coming to you for treatments, be patient and don't be downhearted if it relapses but keep going. Its a weird illness - you can feel not too bad sometimes and then relapse and lose days, weeks and sometimes months. Really horrible. But keep going! (Aromatherapy is fantastic too- I had that after a 2 year relapse with reflexology and am quite good a lot of the time now)

There are doctors who believe that most depression is due to malfunctioning (low) thyroid - there are many aspects of it from the pituitary through to non-production, autoimmune reaction, lack of enzymes or co-factors for conversion of T4-T3 (the active form), lack of/blocked receptors in the cells, etc. But unfortunately the NHS only looks at T4 levels and possibly TSH levels but nothing else and too many people fall through the net, and are forced to lead a life of poor health. So whether your cousin has ME or not, I'd be inclined to see someone who looks at more than the 2 possibilities above. If you look back at the thyroid posts, you'll find references to the Drs Durrant Peatfield and Mouton.

Thank you so much for all the advice Caroline I really do appreciate it, sadly she won't go and see anyone for fear of losing her DLA !! As I said in a previous post, you just can't help some people x
Fair enough! Some people gain advantage from being ill - if nothing else it is a cry for sympathy! My father was like that - and made much of his operations, etc!!!! Then when he really was ill, he was ignored - surprise, surprise!
Gosh, mirror image lol

Melanie, thanks for this encouraging read,I am doing weekly treatments with this lady, her second on Tuesday.Im glad you are doing well 🙂
Hi Star
Much of what goes wrong starts in the gut (as with many problems), so gut healing and healthy bacteria are paramount (supplement 50 billion probiotic bacteria/day). Vegetable juicing should help, see here, but as RP says, it does not suit everyone - this will alkalise the body, but if too much is taken for too long, without enough to acidify (meat, fish, cereals) she may become too alkaline, bringing with it its own problems. A healthy, balanced diet is usually best. She will probably be getting a reasonable amount of magnesium and calcium from her veges, but it would be better if the form she takes is in the malate form (part of the Krebs cycle that those with ME often have problems with), eg Mg malate. Apples also supply malate. Is she avoiding sugar because of possible Candida?
Hope that helps

Indeed. The gut is a mjor part of the equation.
Calcium however is something you have to be careful with; glutamate is the gun calcium is the bullet.
ME is a SYMPTOM; i know. I have suffered for 7 years but have done much research and completed dozens of tests.
The gut is involved.
The autonomic nervous system.
The mitochondria.
The citric acid cycle.
Minerals, b12 etc
The bottom line; it is an ENERGY PRODUCTION PROBLEM.
ALL NEED to be looked at.
I am considering reflexology for circulation issues; it is useful? That is one i hav enot looked at yet.
cheers

Just to update on my clients progress.
This lady had her third treatment of reflexology today, and I have been doing reiki and EFT and introduced her to Bach flower remedies.
I am pleased to say that she has also changed her diet to a more balanced one and is consuming more water and the change is quite remarkable.
During the Reflexology treatments I did full treatment and came back to focus on the Hypothalmus, pituitary and adrenals.I also worked alot on the liver which was not tender today and her digestive system which has totally relaxed and her whole system is in much better equilibrium. Her circulation has also improved considerably and was so obvious from her feet and her facial appearance.
On second treatment I gave her some Reiki and she said she could feel so much movement going on inside and then she said she was floating up to the ceiling, she did not want it to end.She then see white energy flowing out of her third eye and a 'whoosh' of energy flow from top of her head to her feet.
Today we did reflexology and reiki and she felt great, and we chatted about EFT and Mimulus flower essences. Her greatest fear was on NEVER getting better and so we tapped that from 10 to 2,and I recommended she take MIMULUS essence for the known fear.
We could have carried on with the EFT but she said she would continue at home and during the week with whatever came up.
To say this lady is better is an understatement, she is better physically, mentally and emotionally which is the balance we require for optimum health.
She left with a smile on her face and could not thank me enough,I may have only had 1 customer today but it was worth it:)
