I qualified as a Reflexologist in 1997. I use it weekly (mobile) for just a couple of clients I have seen for a while. Having children in between.
6 months ago I opened a shop selling alternative clothes. On this journey I met people who have encouraged me to think about doing my reflexology seriously. ( my children are now 11 and 7)
I have seen a beautiful shop in which I could sell my clothes and have a therapy room out the back. Some of my friends practice aromatherapy ect.............
As i'm a bit rusty is there anything I should/need to think of?
Couch / chair needs to be thought of.
Oh and what a wonderful website.:D

Hi Sam and welcome to Healthypages,
Sounds like you're really up for doing business. 🙂
Just a question though... how do you plan to run the shop and your therapy in the 'back room' at the same time? Would you have a shop assistant? Have you considered the costs involved etc.? It's not clear what business experience you have already and whether you've considered such things or not.
Also, consider that 'clients' may need access to facilities, such as a toilet etc. so would that fit in well within the shop environment, or does it have it's own seperate facilities at the back of the shop?

ooops, just realised I should have put this under the reflexology section really.
Hi,
I am hoping to take booking for the treatments, so that I can get a friend in to run the shop. That way I can concentrate on what @m">i'm doing and she can come in when I need her. That's the theory anyway?
As with all things anything could happen.

No worries, I've moved it for you.

Sounds like a plan. Is your friend acceptable to being 'on call' when you need her? How much notice will she need in advance and what about the clients who call up asking if you can see them a.s.a.p.?

My friend is very good. In my other place she stocked candles and so we did a deal on the rent space with her helping.
Any client that needs treating a.s.a.p well that is not something i'd really thought about?
I think my problem is i'm very doubtful of myself and not confident so I never thought that someone would really want a treatment straight away?.................. off to have a cuppa and a think on that.
Do clients really come in like that??
Oh and forgive my rudeness, thank you for your guidence on this so far x

Absolutely.
"Hi, I see you do reflexology.... well, I've got this problem and it's being getting a lot worse recently to the point I woke up this morning and decided I had to do something about it... do you think you could fit me in this afternoon?"

Not rude at all. 🙂
It may be that you won't get clients wanting immediate treatment, but it's these sorts of questions you have to consider... all the possible options, and decide how you are going to run your business around them. For example, you could have a pre-agreed timetable with your friend for certain days of the week, so although you couldn't offer an immediate appointment to someone you could certainly say, "I'm all booked up today, but I do have a spare appointment on Thursday if that suits you?" for example.
