Just started a new case study for my ITEC reflexology course. This lady suffers from endometriosis which has just been diagnosed. She has been on the Pill but that didn't help so she came off it. She also suffers from fibromyalgia and Reynaud's syndrome

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to which reflexes to concentrate on for any or all of these conditions?

I'm treating her tomorrow and am at a bit of a loss what to do this time! So any advice would be most appreciated!

Re fibromyalgia

Hi 5star

i've been treating a client for fibromyalgia and have combined aromatherapy and reflexology very successfully. My last treatment was last week and then I found the cerabellum reflex points especially sensitive. The reflexes associated with the sciatic nerve and with the pelcic area were also sensitive and hence justified particular attention. Re the aromatherapy aspect, I have only undertaken this treatment whenever the pain was not too acute and then it was very rewarding in that the client was able to go to sleep within about 15 minutes of treatment commencing. In addition to focussing on problem muscular areas the aromatherapy approach was 'compensatory' in that in incorporated a 'relaxation experience' which in itself was beneficial.

I'm relatively inexperienced so I do hope this is of some relevance to you

RE: Re fibromyalgia

Hi

Fibromyalgia is a fatigue condition like M.E and CFS but has a range of tender spots over the body, by which it is diagnosed, there is not usually any actual inflammation present..
For the fibro just work all the reflexes well but dont overwork them or use too hard pressure. They may have very tender feet. Keep checking the clients response, as you progress with the course of treatment you may be able to increase the pressure.
Extra attention to Brain, spine, endocrines. Try to impart some energy into the solar plexus but relaxation is also needed so lots of effleurage (stroking) is good.

They very often have achy muscles and joints, poor sleep pattern and fatigue.

Your treatments should help a great deal, reflexology is excellent for the condition.

Endometriosis needshormone balancing, so endocrine system, (pituitary, repros, thyroid) working on. Lumbar spine as its nerves go into pelvic area and helps blood supply. Again, lots of relaxing moves too.

In both cases taking omega oils 3,6 and 9 may be very helpful.
