Douglas Barry, one month later...
I have ordered a book from Douglas Barry exactly one month ago. I left several voicemails and sent about six e-mails so far asking when they are going to dispatch it and nobody responded. What's worse is that the link to their website was provided by The International Federation of Reflexologist, so I e-mailed them as well to see if they could look into my problem. No response. Stay well away from them! I have never come across such unprofessional companies before!
If anyone have any ideas how to get my book, that would be greatly appreciated.
Well, Douglas Barry Publications isn't listed at companies house as a company, so perhaps they are not a legit company, which is probably more so indicated by the fact their contact phone number is a premium rate 0870 number... a good way to make money out of people calling up to complain.
How did you pay for your book(s)? If you used a credit card, you should contact your credit card provider and tell them the situation and ask them to refund any money taken (I assume they've taken the money?), which they should do considering the number of times you've tried to contact the seller without reply and without receiving your goods.
Aside from that, they do list their address on their website (Douglas Barry Publications - The Healthy Reading Company - Help section) so you could have a solicitor take it up on your behalf if you want to go down that route.
Also consider contacting trading standards about them.
It sounds like about time trading standards were contacted about this company.
They can be quite good at dealing with these kinds of companies particularly if enough people agree to make a formal complaint about them. That usually just means sending an email outlining your grievance.
Find your local officer online.
Good luck,
