Hiya!

I did reflexology for a friend yesterday - on the ball of his left foot it was covered in brown marks and little black spots (best was I can describe it) and some crater like pores? Not describing this very well, sorry. Covered area just in case.

I was not sure if this was just down to foot hygiene or infection. Did not look like verrucaes or athletes foot. Tried to look up on net but no success. Not come across this before. Anybody recognise this please?

Thanks v much

C 🙂

Hi,
It does sound like verrucas or maybe corns? Did you show the client?

Verrucas usually look like little black dots on the bottom of the foot. Your friend sounds like he has lots of them. They are contagious so he needs to get them checked out by a doctor or chiropodist.

Dark skinned people can have brown marks left after corns etc have healed.

Brown or dark red marks on the soles of feet and palms of hands can be a sign of the second stage of syphilis. http://menshealth.about.com/od/sexualdiseasesstds/a/syphilis_signs.htm

The black clusters do sound like verucas so the immune system needs boosting up.

Hi, from what you describe it sounds like what are known as "female veruccas" - very contagious!

I know this is old but I have to respond to it. I have to admit that I had to look up the word verrcuca 🙂

Because it sounded like planters warts to me. My grandmother was born January 1900 and had great old remedies. I got planters warts on the bottom of my feet from gym class shower (allways wear flip flops in public showers) and anyone using the same shower at home got them from me.

Well grandma knew just what to do. She cut a small slice of potatoe and applied it to the bottom of our feet with a bandaid or tape at night but cod liver oil with a bandaid during the day when we had to walk around. So I guess we were killing them with the natural acids in the Potatoe at night and healing with the vit. E in the fish oil in the day?

This treatment made holes in my feet at the site of the wart but not the surrounding skin. Only the wart died but planters warts are deep sooooooo a hole. I don't have a record (it was 50 years ago) but it seemed like it was just one or two weeks till they were gone.

No hole or scar was left when healed. I hope you were wearing gloves 🙁

You are right "verruca" is the Latin name for a wart. In British English we use the term verruca for planter warts, but use the term "warts" if on the hands and face 😉
