Hi,
I'm a student on an AOR course and have just started a case study who has suggested that I may be able to give her 18 year old with ADHD treatment. As I have no experience I don't know if I can help. I understand the son is great at sport but has no concentration abilities. Would reflexology help calm this person? Anyone got any experience they can share?
Thanks 🙂
Hi Cat Lady,
Reflexology is such a great treatment that if you just try and see the session as giving relaxation.......im sure you will see the results each week as you monitor them!Good luck with your training.

Hiya
As reflexology is said to be an energy therapy, then it would bring this lad's energies into balance and may well calm him down - if you can get him to sit still long enough!
Thank you both. Do you think a general session covering all systems would be ok or are there particular reflexes that may be of extra importance? What is interesting is that, in this instance, as a toddler, they thought he had meningitis and pumped him full of a cocktail of drugs. He didn't have meningitis but his mum believes that was what knocked his body out of balance and brought on the ADHD.

Well, obviously the brain, but also solar plexus, and metabolic areas such as stomach, thyroid, heart and lungs.
Thanks Chris. I've started to create my own table of dis-eases and reflex points to augment those in some of the text books and what I've done for clients to date, this will be going in there.

hi , i work in a childrens secure unit , and do quite a lot of work on adhd young people .. yes its very effective , and its enjoyed ,if you can get a yp with adhd to sit through the session then its a good result in itself ... and in most cases you will .
i usually do a full treatment , then work on the solar plexus ,the brain areas , and the endrocrine system.. i do precission reflexology so there are a couple of links i also use , but just working the above reflexes will help enormously ..

Just a thought, but as well as reflexology, has his mum considered homoeopathy? It can be really helpful when dealing with toxicity damage. As for reflexology, I'd use hormone balancing as much as possible because kids with ADHD are ruled by their hormones (and their imbalances), especially Melatonin (produced in a part of the pineal gland), which regulates sleep patterns. People with ADHD don't produce enough Melatonin so to them (and to us poor beleaguered people who care for them, regular sleep cycles are just something that happens to other people.
Thanks Pincher and ISMorgan. Sorry for the delay. Have been in case history mode and on Saturday did my practical exam. Now got to try and get my head together for the theory exam but feeling very down at the moment.
