Hi all...Does anyone have any idea what are some good remedies to STOP receeding gum problems?....I've read co-enzyme Q-10 is good and of course other supplements. I've made some notes about Sunflower oil and Aloe Propolis Toothgel from other posts. Diet , hygenist, excercise, and regular brushing, soft brushes, changing brushes regularly help. I am aware of herbs and such. I hear Howlite (rock/crystal) is good for bones/teeth...but theres never any info on how to apply exactly.

However, I've been reading that there is NO way to stop gums from receeding once its gone that bad even after surgery/deep cleaning...except forother thanmajor periodontal surgery to replace the bone with pig gell and/or cadaver (deceased persons bone..they say its non-infectious) to help rebuild the bone/tissues..if it takes?.

Its a long shot but has anyone had success or known of anyone beatingthis kind of thing naturally?.

RE: RECEEDING GUMS HELP!

About 10 years ago I experienced pain from receding gumson myright upper molars. My hygienist recommended that I use one of the toothpastes that help with dental pain, and, whilst brushing, make sure that I only brush 'up' from the gum over the tooth, and never up/down or across the teeth. Once I had finished cleaning the teeth, I was to apply a small amount of toothpaste to my finger tip, and massage it into the gum on the painful part. I don't do it so often nowadays, as this regime helped to stop me pushing the gum down to further expose the root, and I don't have pain anymore, unless I drink extremely cold water or drink tea which is too hot.

RE: RECEEDING GUMS HELP!

I was advised to use corsodyl gel on my gums where my gums are receeding and to leave it there without washing it off after regular brushing. I was also told later on that it can cause teeth staining so not to do it long term. I use the mouthwash now cause I was advised that might be better.

RE: RECEEDING GUMS HELP!

Hi

Am doing the same process myself.

My dental bone is down to 1/3 of what it should be! REAL bad dental care for many years and lifestyle behind it, as I worked as an organic/intuitive chef ... go figure. Teeth strong, lost 4 back teeth. Look very "long in the tooth". It is the bone that recedes not the gums, never knew that.

I am researching this. I am told the bone can regrow, Zen monks apparently have the drop on this, and regrow actual teeth. The Mercola Natural Health website in the US has a dental section too.

Currently I am cleaning like a lunatic, periodontist costing a fortune but is worth it. I am doing Anatomy and Physiology as part of a Massage course. In that I learn that bone is replaced every x months or so. So their is action, growth, movement there.

Sesame oil apparently has all the nutrients needed to regenerate growth.

However, I suspect and know, some deep peceptual shifts and/or changes in consciousness is also going to be needed. Louise Hay points to issues of "lack of bite" and "not using your teeth/bite" etc around dental issues ... so some navel gazing there. When I look at "why" I got into this I can see the truth of that.

It took years to destroy the bone so it will take years to regrow it too, the joy is in the effort I suppose. It is funny that the expression "long in the tooth" (receded gums) is an expression of wise person!!

Onward we go, will post any news wisdom gained here.

Keep brushing.

RE: RECEEDING GUMS HELP!

I just pulled out one of my books about teeth/gums...(forgot all about it!)....and so I'll a pass this along that:
Flaxseed, rosemary, and oregeno oil all help in prevention of receeding gum. Perhaps you can use it the same way as the sunflower oil...(seethe post at the "[link= http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tm.asp?m=151356 ]gum disease"[/link] [link= http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tt.asp?forumid=19 ]Natural Remedies[/link]thread.Not having the mouth too try;moisture is good as like for you skin. Soft tooth brush...not over brushing or too hard, fast, or rough...and replace your tooth brushes often. I use the best natural or organic tootpaste and mouthwash I can get. Theres also Golden Seal, Echinecea, and Myrhh to can be used as mouth wash or like the sunflower remedy. The two former herbs also good for cleaning body/elimination..etc.

Alsoas I mentioned C0-Q10..you can get at the health food vitaming/suppliment section.. I've read thought that 100 - 120 miligrams are best for serious conditions...anything less is like a drop in the bucket. A perio-dentist once told me that the GUMS AND THE BONE are in the receeding process.... the bone cannot receed and not effect the gums as well; receeding...its all relative.Long in tooth indeed...I've seen it in radical stage and its not pretty believe me. So do what you can in the meantime. I am not in the position to afford perio anymore at the moment....so anything that can help is great!.

Interesting article...

RE: RECEEDING GUMS HELP!

Hi Charish,

Thanks a lot for that, the journey continues.

Went of to read that article ... good one ... stuff I always knew ... 20 years ago I was using salt and burnt aubergine (Dentie) toothpaste. How we meander in life!!

I have the long in the tooth thing going on ... it ain't pretty ... which is why I want to regrow the bone. So off I go.

Bottom line that guy is right, I have seen people eat their way out of terminal cancer with same principles and diligence.

(**edit** ... still reading here ... actually "Thank You ... Namaste." What a wondrerful site this is!)

In Joy

Jim

RE: RECEEDING GUMS HELP!

I would really recommend FLP's Forever Brite toothgel for your gums, which is no laughing matter because any discomfort in your mouth is very painful. You are correct that it combines aloe vera with bee propolis; it has no flouride. The aloe carries the propolis through the gums and really goes to work; propolis is a natural anti-biotic and soothes gum problems really effectively. It has a natural whitening action and fights plaque too. It has been extensively tested by UK & US dental specialists.

RE: RECEEDING GUMS HELP!

Hi,

My gums seem to be in good condition now. Periodontist is going to recommend surgery at end of Feb; I assume it will be to rebuild the bone with whatever.

However, many years ago I read books by Robert Becker, one of the fathers of "ElectroMedicine" which, partially combines very sensitive instrumentation and the meridian system. Becker was able to get frogs to regenerate limbs in the same way that salamanders do using electromagnetic fields to reverse the polarity of the frogs energy systems. Research for yourself [color="#990099"][link= http://www.earthpulse.net/Becker.htm ]here.[/link] [color="#000000"]Zen monks reputedly can regrow teeth; a teacher of mine in Bristol claims similar success too, bone not teeth tho! Rigorous lifestyle issues tho', am a bit young for all that yet!! (oops!)

[color="#000000"]I am going to look into the energetic side of it, perhaps with acupuncturist. The surgery option is not the preferred way. I have also recently found a dentist/periodontist in Waterford, Ireland who looks at a whole body approach and stimulating my healing system, I have no doubt this will be deep work.

My smoking habit will have to go too. Having seen the program on herbs on BBC2 this week and the link with Alzheimers and Ginkho, it will get me off the nicotine. My father died of above, which came on after he gave up smoking only. I was told at his funeral that nicotine can keep a Alzheimers at bay if predisposed. But now I have another route. Yeaa!

This is a LONG term project for me; i enjoy my life fully and pay attention to these as I go along. I really view it all as growth and fulfillment. Being "sick" ain't in it. I never knew. In ten years there will be more I never knew too.

Big fan of propolis, will try Forever Brite. Corsodyl is anti-biotic and have successfully avoided them, stained teeth and my heart actually complained once i used it ... gave that up. I LOVE brushing my teeth now, a source of joy. Periodontist says I am brushing off all the plaque as I go so that is good. Diet is pretty spotless as always.

Big Love

Jim

Funy how all these events interlock.
