Hi there guys and gals,

I'm wondering if you can help me with some suggestions for helping my mum, she wants to use a more natural way to pick herself up than just going on antidepressants.

Basically 2 weeks ago my dad out of the blue said he needs a break, told her hes been thinking about it for over 18 months and doesnt know where their relationship is going and if they have a future, they have been married 25 years this year. This came as a bolt out of the blue for my mum, she didnt see it coming, likewise the friends we have told havent either. Shes a complete wreck, she cant sleep she wont eat properly, she's crying numerous times a day, I just feel at a loss as what to suggest.

Shes using rescue remedy drops in water and I've just dowsed for a bach flower remedy for her and am going to use that when I give her an indian head massage tonight but is there anything else anyone can suggest to help her through this period please?

I think the Bach remedies would be very helpful 🙂

I'm training with The Bach Foundation, so would select them as Dr Bach did, using purely emotions as a guide. I appreciate other people have their own methods though 🙂

Rescue remedy is a great choice, I'd also suggest Sweet Chestnut for the desolation and extreme emotion she seems to be experiencing. Walnut will help her to adapt to the change in her life and circumstances that are happening.

Obviously this is simply based on what you have told us 🙂
Maybe you could help your mum to look through the remedies and select the ones you both feel most appropriate? Try and empower her by involving her in the selection.

Out of interest, may I ask which remedy came up when you dowsed?

If I can be of anymore help, just let me know via the board or pm me.
Thinking of you both, your mum is very lucky to have such a lovely and caring daughter

Hi, in the short term, she could take Ignatia 30c- available in pharmacies. It's a homeopathic remedy- fine to take alongside anything else and helps emotionally in cases of trauma/upset. She should take a pill 2 or 3 times a day for a week and see if it helps, continuing with it a while longer if it does, or stopping it if it doesn't. HTH Hom

Hi Angel_hales. In the short term for stress and anxiety I have taken the amino acid 5-htp (from health food shops, cheaper online) It worked very well for me, but only for two months. If this is going to last longer, or you see signs of depression then your mum needs to see her gp.
I hope your mums problem gets soughted soon.
