I really suffer from mouth olcers alot, i may get up to about 5-6 sometimes. It seems it has gotten worse as i have gotten older. They are really very uncomfortable little sores sometimes its hard to talk normal or even eat. It seems any small trama to my mouth a bit lip anything of that nature a olcer will soon appear. Sometimes i talk loud and my throat may hurt the next day or so, an olcer will form down there. I've have been getting these olcers for as long as i can remember and im just sick of it. Please if there is any ideas on what could be the cause, let me know. Thanks for you time, Brandon

Hi
This is probably no help what so ever but ill go ahead and say it anyway.
Ive heard from somewhere that people who get alot of ulcers are lacking in something. but i dont know wha that something is! anyone else know??
But i do know aloe vera gel or aloe vera based toothpaste is good for ulcers. it takes away the pain and heals quickly.
Hope u get it sorted!

Hi There!
Ulcers are really horrible things!!!! They can make you feel really depressed. Are you stressed or feeling run downat the moment? Sometimes these factors can cause a person to get mouth ulcers. When i was doing my exams in school, i got myself so worked up and stressed that my mouth would just erupt in the little buggers!! I couldn't eat, or sleep and i couldn't concentrate on my studies as they were all i could think about!
You could try Bonjella (you can get this from any pharmacy) or you could pay a visit to your G.P. he may be able to prescribe something for you which is more effective. (i was given a mouth ulcer treatment...can't remember the name.....and it was like a really thick paste. You dry the ulcer with a cotton bud and then apply a blob of the paste. It tasted horrible, but it cleared them up in a matter of days, so its worth a try).
Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

well I just have a gum ulcer leaving (hourra!) my mouth....O bought Magnesium and Vitamin B12...I read somewhere it could be linked. Also, I drink juices with vit. C.
As important, I put MYRRH TINCTURE on it, and changed the toothpaste to one (WELDA I think the name is) that has no Luaryl suplhate sodium in it. somewhere someone posted a comment that this chemical is responsible for mouth ukcers and occur in most toothpaste.
So you could try taking a cocktail of Vit and minerals (plus maybe Koream ginger..?)and put Myrrh tincture (it burns but it's good!)...make sure you don't infect the tincture.
Finally, you could have a food allergy. I know tomatoes or some food chemicals can make my gums swell. maybe it is a drink you often have; ie a soft drink with chemicals...
I hope you don't smoke. If you do that could be a cause.
hope this helps.

I recomend buying a bottle of Tea Tree aromatherapy oil and mixing it in with water to make a mouth wash, it will surely help you!!!
I would perhaps put 5 drops per glass.
You can find some aromatherapy oils in Boots or health shop, bottle should not set you back more than a few pounds.

I have suffered mouth ulcers since i was a kid, I have found when i am run down they flare up alot more. I have tried alot of chemist items, that easy the pain but don't seem to get rid of them quickly. The most effective item i have ever used is[color="#0066ff"] bicarb-soda. Taste horrible but it does ease the pain and gets rid of the ulcers quickly. All you have to do is put the bicarb-soda straight onto the ulcer and i just repeat every hour at first then use it as needed. I just buy the cheap bicarb-soda from the supermarket. I am not a 100% sure but i think ulcers are in the same family as coldsores so maybe vitamins that help yr body combat coldsores will also work on ulcers. Good luck happy healing.

Hi!
Poor you - mouth ulcers can be ghastly! Whilst concurring all that has been replied, another thing that needs to be thrown in is the issue of sodium lauryl sulphate - this is found in toothpaste! There has been a lot of research in relation to this & ulcers & for some people, avoiding this is enough to sort out the problem. There are a few toothpastes on the market that don't contain SLS but Hollytrees is a good make from a highly ethical company. Nice flavours too! Personally, I've found HOT & strongly SALT mouth washes - although painful at the time, do sort out the little blighters! Good luck

I have found over the years that mouth ulcers mean I'm out of balance. A visit to a Homeopath many years ago, determined my Constitution remedy , and this is what I take when they occur. Relief is within a couple of days. So try Homeopathy. Since becoming a Healer, i have found I recognise very quickly when my body is going out of sync and I rarely, if ever get ulcers now.
Good luck!

Liqourice is absolutely AMAZING in the treatment of mouth ulcers. It acts as avery effective anti-inflammatory agent. It can be mixed with a little aloe vera gel, or just applied directly as a tincture or fluid extract.
Hope this helps

I've come across the avoid sodium laureth sulphate advise also. I've made a policy of avoiding it in all toiletries since hearing what it is, some years ago. It is used as the foaming agent in almost all toothpastes, shampoos, liquid soaps etc - have a read of the bottles and also as an emulsifier (thickener) in those that don't need to foam. It is a very caustic de-greasing agent which strips the skin/ hair of oils, origionally used on garage floors and in petro-chemical cleaning. SLS free products are a more specialised market but there are companies doing them out there. The toothpaste I use is Vogel's dentaforce, which also has herbal ingredients which will sooth and aid healing. I use a simple palm oil based solid soap and Bioforce's Neem shampoo.

I have problems with ulcers in my mouth. They make you absolutely miserable. In order to combat them, I have done the following with some, but limited success:
1) switched to Squiggles toothpaste which doesn't contain the main ingredient that causes canker sores. I have had no cavities and have taken this toothpaste for 5 years.
2) avoid citrus fruits, especially cantelope and honeydew
3) avoid chocolate, or big amounts of it
4) avoid huge amounts of salt, especially when combined with other foods.
5) use some type of chapstick/lip balm year round
6) avoid huge amounts of soda
Hope that helps.

Why not got to your local health food store and ask for a zinc test to be done......if your low in zinc, it will certainly stop the ulcers from coming at all!

I also suffer from mouth ulcers. I have lupus so they are a symptom of that disease.

Just read your posting and suggest you ask your doctor or dermatologist if you might have Pemphigus Vulgaris. I was diagnosed with it in July 2006. Lots of reoccurring erosions in the mouth and throat. It's an autoimmune disorder and quite rare. Check into it.
RE: Mouth olcers......PLEASE HELP
Hi Brandon,
Mouth ulcers are a real pain. I have read that recurrent ulcers are commonly linked with stress and the herpes virus. They can also occur with the lack of vitamins B2, B3, B6, B12, C, folic acid and iron. Sometimes they can be a sign of coeliac condition. Avoiding toothpastes with SLS is good advice, and using a warm salt mouth wash will work wonders, especially before going to sleep, although it will sting at first.
Hope you find some relief soon,
Laura.

Try not using commercial toothpaste. Make your own from baking soda or salt or combine both. I have found this one habit of using commercial toothpaste has been the cause for many people.
some people add a drop of pepprmint essential oil but I would refrain from that till the sores were healed and then try it if you like but if the sores come back omit any additions.
To ease the pain you can swish warm water with dissolved baking soda a few times. It really helps. You can also try a tea made from cloves to rinse with, cloves have an anesthetic quality. Do not swallow it however.
If they are caused by an acidic diet, try drinking a few cups of chamomile tea during the daytime hours. Do research on acidic foods to see if your diet includes mostly these foods and rectify the diet.
I hope these suggestions will help you on the road to eliminating them.
Peace, cecile
