OK , fleurrypops is getting desperate now and in sleep deprivation mode!!

Over the worst of flue, but left with a hacking cough, cannot lie down at night due to coughing, and now resigned to trying to sleep upright in a chair, manage to snatch an hour here an there.

Been to the doctor who said is a flue type virus, cannot give anything for the cough, so not on medication, but got a sick note! Have been on the manuka 10+ to boost immunity for a few days but its not easing. Bottled cough medicines do nothing. tried some of the very strong throat lozenges, they are OK ish!!

Have tried essential oils, tea tree and sandalwood, blended. Reiki'd. Crystals, a spot of eft but not sure if I am doing that right as I am not trained.

Hardly slept for three days and nights now and trust me...a tired grizzly bear is not nice to be around...anyone got any tried and tested cough remedies!! Heeeeellllp 😀 Just need some

Thanks for listening...Whinge over!!

Hi

Try 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder with honey and lemon juice in hot water (4-5 times in a day) no side effects.

If there is wheezing with the cough and it's worse at night and you become generally restless with it, you could try Arsenicum.
If it's a dry cough, worse lying down but also worse if you move about a lot, you could try Bryonia.
-Both homeopathic remedies available in stores.
There are other homeopathic remedies that could help but you'd need to see a homeopath as they're not in the shops. HTH Hom

Have to say your symptoms are very similar to mine 🙁

But last night I did get a little more sleep (thank goodness), I've drunk lots of hot lemon and honey it seems to be the only thing that cuts through the cough and then managed to get a little sleep until the cough starts up again.

I think the worse is now over, but did spend three nights downstairs in front of the TV, just drifting off when I could.

Fingers crossed you are over the worse.

Take care

Fudge

Hi Fudge..

well it's still lingereing...problem when I even slightly recline, so am now resolved to perching bolt upright in the chair propped with cushions. I have had absolutley loads of honey...I even considered could the honey be irritating it more (in an allergy) kind of way. Anyway,,,there are worse illnesses to contend with ;), its a beautiful day so think will layer up and go for a walk. :nature-smiley-008:

Hi Fleur

Sorry to hear you are suffering at the moment. Last year I had one that just wouldn't go away so I don't have any remedies I know that really worked for me (I think mine was kicked off by an allergy to one or other essential oil though).

What I found helped me was hot drinks and the ones that suited me best were chai and hot lemon honey and ginger. Humidify the air if you can - there are some nice little humidifiers available now that you can put some e.o's in. Sleep with your head slightly raised, supported by pillows don't lie down flat.

The best way of using the oils for the respiratory tract is by inhalation and make a blend up for local application. You seem to be using appropriate essential oils, I would add lavender and eucalyptus radiata to the tea tree and sandalwood or alternate with them. You can also use sweet marjoram, myrtle, pine, and ravensara in a blend as a chest rub (3% max).

Keep warm and rest.

Hi

Is everyone on the mend? I ended up at the doctors yesterday as I needed a sick paper for work and she confirmed that I have a throat and chest infection! So I have continued with the EO, steam and lots of hot lemon and honey.

Take care everyone
