Have any homeopaths any experience in taking or using the homeopathic remedy B complex?
Would you take it as you would in the vitamin form, does it do the same thing, how long would you take it for?
As I am having face bloating and puffiness from taking a B Complex supplement I wondered if a homeopathic version would produce the same adverse effects.
Any advice or information from homeopaths would be greatly appreciated.
RE: Calling all homeopaths - B Complex
Hi there,
I am a Homeopath and been working in a homeopathic pharmacy for a year. I'm afraid all I can say is that I have never heard of using it homeopathically. A few years ago, however I had flushes from taking one B vitamin - I think it was niacin - and when I stopped taking it, the symptoms went away. I'm not sure how long you have stopped for?
It is definetly an option of taking B vitamin in potency, but bear in mind that it may be the brand that you have reacted to (as each have their own additional substances within), so you may have to get it made up (it usually causes £1 per step - i.e. £30 for 30c) - definetly worth a try if it hasn't cleared up by itself.
Hope this helps
RE: Calling all homeopaths - B Complex
It could be that what your asking about is an isopathic remedy, rather than homeopathic, although some homeopaths use isopathic remedies.
As I understand it - the basic premise of homeoptahy is - Like cures Like.
With isoptahic remedies - it's a case of 'Same cures Same'.
I can see I might be digging a great hole her, but bear with me.
As an example;-
If the client/patient is suffering from a streaming nose & eyes from hay fever, then a homeopath would prescribe a remedy that is a micro dose of something taken in a much larger dose would cause those symtoms in that particular type of person.
With isopathy it would be a micro dose of, say grass pollen, as this is may be considered to be the cause of irritation, with less enphasis on the constituition of the person.
The case in question - it's likely to be considered that there is an issue with B vitamins, so an isopathic dose of B complex could be the prescription.
Does that help?
Andrew.
RE: Calling all homeopaths - B Complex
Andrew - think I understand - is it because I might be allergic to B complex or something in it by taking it in homepathic form it is a case of taking something that disagrees with me to cure. I saw this remedy on a very well known homeopathic pharmacy's web site.
RE: Calling all homeopaths - B Complex
One other thing - although my problems have improved a bit by stopping the B complex I am still suffering from puffy face especiallypuffy eyes and lids - and headache above both of my eyes it's almost like a sinus headache but I've tried sinus medicines from the chemist. Today I am suffering still with the headache but the right eye feels like it has a knife sticking in it and the pain seems to travel into my right ear so now because I've tried everything for sinus, cold etc. I'm thinking "allergy". Just wish it would go as I've had it for about 4 weeks now! Any suggestions as to what I could take to reduce this puffiness/bloating and headache - my eyes just feel so sore!
RE: Calling all homeopaths - B Complex
Well I personally wouldn't touch it, but I'm a very classical homoeopath. Can I ask why you want to take it in the first place? if you think you are lacking in a certain B vitamin then your best bet would be to alter your diet.
If it is to overcome a specific problem I would recommend seeing a homoeopath for constitutional treatment.
RE: Calling all homeopaths - B Complex
Just for help before a period with pmt - but from what I've heard everything has been negative reports so I certainly won't be trying or buying. I do eat a healthy diet but sometimes you do need a bit of extra help.
RE: Calling all homeopaths - B Complex
Do go and see a homoeopath for constitutional treatment, it works wonders with PMT. Also, not sure if you're aware but supplementing with evening primrose oil (2,400mgper day and give it at least 3mths for an effect) and vitex agnus castus (tincture is best) can work wonders too.
I would definitely avoid the B complex route! BTW, B6 is the vitamin which has the largest effect on the menstrual cycle so you may want to try supplementing that by itself (it's rare to get a reaction to it, in actual fact a B6 deficiency actually leads to worsened allergies!) - but if you don't want to supplement then a bowl of fortified cereal per day (anything for kelloggs for instance) gives you more than enough B6!

RE: Calling all homeopaths - B Complex
Strangely enough B6 on its own makes me more depressed - have tried it a few times and I always get the same reaction - within half an hour I am so depressed it is awful - even my partner commented on this once saying to me 30 mins ago you were fine what's happened in half an hour so I avoid that.
Does agnus help with the bloating though? It is good for the mood and headaches but never too sure on the fluid retention side.
