I've just passed my exams and got my diploma in holistic massage. I'm looking for a job in a spa or salon. and here is when my confusion begins. Do I need to register first or get a licence?

RE: licence?

hi holeornone

i have just started work in a spa and just before i started they gave me a form for a westminster licence to fill in and then they were the ones who sent it off.....if your going to work for ur self then i think u have to get ur licence first but the spa should give u the form to fill in

RE: licence?

If you are within London you will need to be licenced by the council within the area in which you will be working, the premises will also need to be licenced - but if your working in a spa / centre this will have been taken care of. Outside London I am not aware of any councils that require you to get a licence.

RE: licence?

Hi,

Ilive in Nottingham and because I live and work withing the city boudary I have to have a licence which is £438 a year. The actual bye law, whichI diownloaded from the internet is copied from Westminster Council (they haven't bothered to disguise it!)I think some other cities are the same.
