Just want to know if anyone has tried using Manual Lymphatic Drainage to assist with recovery from a gout attack? Naturally, not during an acute attack! I don't think any gout sufferer would let any massage therapist near him during an acute attack!
In theory, assisting the lymphatic return in the feet should assist in the removal of uric acid crystals. However, over to everone... just want to see if anyone has had experience with this!

RE: Gout and MLD ?
I have treated this, andMLD didhelp - standardsequences with lots of extras on the foot - is the client on NSAIDs? One of my chaps had to really watch what he was eating - reducing red meats seemed to help stop the high incidence of attacks. He also drank more water, which he had been loath to do before.
RE: Gout and MLD ?
HI DARREN,
i had client who had lots of night cramps so i advised daily tonic water(quinine content) and increased water consumption and one of the results was a reduction in the gout incidents! so may be worth a try.

RE: Gout and MLD ?
My husband occasionally suffers from this - he can't take NSAIDs because of his health condition. I do use appropriate (to his whole condition)MLD techniques on the foot area and that gives him some relief
