Hi everyone!
Have been reading all the posts here and you all sound very nice and helpful.
Well, I'm new on here and have recently started an IHM course. I have now got a months break to do lots of work i.e. case studies, A&P, Marketing plan and then prepare for an exam!
However, one of the books given by the course leader is not very helpful in answering any of the questions asked about A&P!! I was wondering if anyone can help me with a few questions that I'm struggling with?
1. Describe in detail the effects of massage on circulation?
2. What are Marma points and how many are there in the IHM treatment area?
3.Name the Lymph nodes of the face & neck?
4. Name the bones of the face and cranium?
5. Describe the function of the cranium?
MUSCLES:
6. Describe point of insertion?
These are but a few that i'm struggling with!
I don't expect anyone to do my work for me, all I would like is for someone to give me links maybe to good websites you guys may have used to complete your A&P questions?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys
Sophia
Hi Sophia
There's so much to cover isn't there!
I wonder what book you are using. Most are quite thorough covering not just the routine but the relevent A&P too, but not all cover Marma points.
I found Helen McGuiness's book Indian Head Massage very useful, and I believe she writes to sylabus for ITEC and VTCT. Amazon link here:
There are usually quite a few copies going on Ebay so worth a look.
The book covers A&P, Marketing, Health and Safety. routine and moves, and also covers marma points.
Not sure about weblinks to suggest. Wikipedia and Answers.com were invaluable for A&P assignments. Another useful site, especially for diagrams is here:

I will watch the thread with interest for other suggestions!
Good luck with the course, you will love it despite the hard work!
Best wishes
Hi Sarah
Thank you SO much for being the first to reply! Thank you for your help and I will have a look at the links you have given..... I am sure I will enjoy practicing! will be back for more advice, no doubt!

hi Sophia,
in relation to your question and the answer you were given;
make sure that you get the NEW edition of the helen McGuiness book as the older versions don't cover the marma points. I have both of the books. And, infact was taught IHM by Helen herself! The marma points are a 'new' thing on the syllabus.
oh, and welcome btw
Thank Daisy!
Can I get the book from Waterstones do you think??
x
yeh, defintely.
I was just about to reply and daisy got there before me!
I brought mine from Waterstone (3rd edition of course). They usually have it in stock. Definitely worth purchasing!:)
Why do you need to know the muscle insertions. Bit over the top for IHM?
Best Wishes on your studies.

Started IHM tonigh
Hi Sophia
Glad to know that I'm not the only newby at IHM. There are 12 in our class and it can be quite daunting. Our course lasts 34 weeks so we had only had our induction tonight. I passed my reflexology diploma last year so I must be ''mad as a hatter'' to put myself through it again but I think you get a bug for new therapies, at least that's my excuse.
