Hi all I am going to be offering training in hypnotherapy soon and wondered what people feel would be a good time frame to train people.
I have noticed most Hypnotherapist training is 1 weekend a month for 10 or so months. Do you think this is the best way?
Other options are 2 weekends a month, 2 Saturdays a month, solid weeks at a time?
I would be interested on others thoughts on what they feel would be most in demand.
Many thanks
David
You need to take in to account how our brain learns and that we stop absorbing information after a certain time frame and breaks are key!
I have just recently finished hypnotherapy training and it was 12 days over 10 months and it was a small group of 8. The same training centre runs a weekend course once a month but with larger numbers on the course. I think these time frames are good.
I felt quite tired after just one day and took on loads of information and I feel you need time to reflect on what you have learnt, go away and practice it and re-read notes etc for it to fully register and be taken onboard. I personally feel that a course all at once in a week or so would be too much at once and people would glaze over, not take the information in, and forget it quite quickly. It also doesn't give people time to practice on friends and family in between so they won't gain valuable experience.
As someone who is currently looking at training in hypnotherapy, i have had to consider what kind of course i want to go for. I decided that doing a course in a week or intense course, although great as i would be qualified quicker, would not give me enough time to process the information or get my head round setting it up as a business.
I have liked and especially looked at courses that are done over a ten month period or so, in order to process the information, get the practice in and to actually start thinking as a hypnotherapist.
I personally have no preference between a one day or two day course and i like the idea of a weekend course because it doesn't interfere if you work all week and can't take time off during the week.
I currently do another unrelated course and we do three days in a row, once every two months. In a way i like doing the three days together because the intensity means you can take a lot on board and it allows you to immerse yourself in it. However i can see Lavandula's point that one day is already pretty intense, so by doing two days your pretty tired already.
So, aside from the waffling! As someone who is looking at a course, i would personally prefer something that is one weekend a month as its not too much commitment when people have lives to lead, i'd find two weekends too much. Alternatively the two Saturdays a month, as that way people get some of their weekend but they are able to commit to that level of learning.
Good luck with it all.
Thanks for those replies guys,:) anyone else's thoughts gratefully recieved!
