I never cease to be amazed at how quickly acupuncture can put an end to night sweats, whether menopause related or not.

Just thought I'd share as I seem to have helped several people who have come to me in distress with this of late.

Really? That's interesting. I go through phrases of bad night sweats which are def not menopause related! I am using the Ayurvedic approach at the moment. If that doesn't shift it, will take your advice and try acupuncture!

I agree with Jenny - it is certainly one of the more responsive symptoms we see and deal with - with great success.

Oh my god, really, i just posted a thread there about my boyfriends night sweats, he has had it for years but uses pot to cure it, i dont know what they are from though, maybe nightmares, cos he gets them alot. but he has a job now where thankfully they do random drug tests and much to my delight he cannot smoke. You think it mite work for him? He doesnt really think natural therapys work, bit of a hard ass you know men, but ive done massage mysef and know it does. Have any of you ever had non female in with this sort of thing, because our sllep is so disturbed from gettin up and changing sheets a few times a night, ill try anything.

This doesn't sound good 🙁

Night sweats are from a deficiency of Qi (energy) or Yin energy to be specific. Basically means you are run down or something has/is depleting your energy.

I always see good results using acupuncture, but the 'root' cause needs addressing too!

In the case of your boyfriend the fact that smoking pot depletes 'Kidney' Energies will affect the whole cycle resulting in disturbed sleep, nighmares and agitation, which is just diluted and masked by the drug. Then resurfaces when not using as much.

Sweating is also related to the lungs so smoking and working in air conditioned environments can make is worse and actually weaken the 'lung' energies.

The fact that we see an influx of this condition now is that during the summer peopl tend to live a slightly more exccessive lifestyle, eating and drinking the wrong foods for the time of year, which gradually weakens energy.

Acupuncture and Qigong are IMO the best and fastest ways to resolve the immediate problems.

A very interesting thread. I posted in response to Lisa's thread that night sweats are a common symptom of low blood sugar - and indeed that is what causes my night sweats. Once that is corrected they go away. I went down the low GI foods route (and I take a single nutritional supplement) and that resolved it for me. Evidently acupuncture's enviable ability to regulate homeostasis is giving folk excellent results. That's great to hear.

Hello Lisa,

I've treated many men with night sweats and in my experience they tend to respond quickly to acupuncture.

In acupuncture and Chinese medicine, it is considered very important to stop night sweats. So much so, that it is said in the classics that we need to stop them before treating anything else.

It's good that he's had to stop smoking pot. Good luck in encouraging your boyfriend to seek treatment!

Best wishes,

Jenny
