I wonder if any acupuncturists can help with this?

I recently visited an acupuncturist for treatment for hormonal imbalance (I'm perimenopausal and was having mood swings around the time of my intermittent periods). I'd had acupuncture about 2 years before when the problem was quite severe and it had helped enormously.

The first session went OK. At the second (a week later) I felt more pain than usual when the needles were put in. On the third session, when she placed the first needles in my ear, I found the pain unbearable. I had to ask her to stop and end the session.

Now during the weeks in which the treatments took place I began to suffer increasingly from depression (this had been a symptom before too). I can't really say I noticed any difference in how I felt after the sessions, but over all my mood was declining. At the time of my last session I was quite emotional. We'd talked a bit about how I was feeling and although I'd come in feeling OK, talking about it had got me depressed and a bit weepy again!

I'm concerned because I feel like my energy is rock bottom at the moment and I'm not sure what to do next to fix myself. I wondered if any acupunturists out there could offer any hints as to what my reduced pain threshold might indicate?

Love and light xx

I feel that you will get good results from Acupuncture as lots of people use it for pain and its harmless with no side effects .

Hi there. I am an acupuncturist but it would be impossible to make any comment on your experience as you don't give enough information to be able to do that. Before we do a treatment we normally take a medical/emotional history and ask a whole raft of questions about the body, emotions, etc.

Zero energy may point to various things, but again it would be folly to make any suggestions without seeing you in the flesh. I am not surprised you got zero replies to your query, but I do hope you are feeling better by now and eventually sorted out what was going on.

I used to find acupuncture much more painful before my periods (like a week before) - so I guess at this point my senstitivity was raised. I also found some points more painful than others. If it was unbearable - the acupuncturist would sometimes try a different point instead.
