Any suggestions,please?

Hi Silver,

How do you want to progress without going to classes?

We do not necessarily need classes,Patsy.
If there is any kind of pyschic or spiritualistic gifts with us,we should be able to develope on our own.
By meditation to allow spirit to come through.
Or be careful how we open up,caution is the word though.

Why do you think this? I'm not saying you are wrong, but is there not a human aspect to be learned as well, if you are actually going to do something with your gifts.

(I've heard this argument a lot in shamanic circles, too. There, I would say that I disagree. But you might consider this to be different.)

Because I have no wish to be a trained medium,Crowan.

I do not want to work on platforms,or demonstrate what I can do.
I'm just happy to be me!;)

Hi Silver,

No, you don't need to go to classes to develop, and you don't have to be a platform medium, but by going along to train with an experienced medium will help direct your meditations. It doesn't have to lead to public work, but it will help to make sense of any messages you get, and how to recognise them and handle them.

It is up to you Silver, but I would always recommend anyone who is thinking of doing this to have at least a basic uinderstanding of what being a developed medium is like. It isn't something one can 'coach' like a distance learning course.

I say this as a friend.

Love,
Patsy.

I have been advised to do that many times but do you really think at my age it would be worth it?:)
But I do see your point and would love to try it but not somewhere like Stansted.
Too big and too expensive.....:(

Shamanism's principles and/or practices are not relevant to the religion and philosophy of Spiritualism, the title of this forum.

Hi Silver,

You are never too old to be a trained medium. You are a lady with a most beautiful, kind, loving heart, and your gift will be so much more enhanced with the right guidance. Do you have a Spiritualist church nearby? They may have a circle, in which an experienced medium sits in a group with other people at the same level (i.e. beginners) and takes them through some simple meditations. She/he will also offer advice, if asked. Usually they are about £1 per session (it varies, but the cost only covers the tea and biccies afterwards - very important after meditation.)

Stansted Hall? Now, Silver, don't get me started on THAT place.....

You don't have to practise your mediumship at all, you can develop your gift for only yourself.

Let me know how you get on.

Love,
Patsy.

Which is why I put it in parentheses.

Funny you should mention Stansted hall,Patsy.
I dreamed once I was visiting there, crowded room and large filled with other people.
I felt for some reason 'crowded out' too many people in the room.
I had a tall blonde lady with me,walking along side me.
I knew her from somewhere and have dreamed of her before.
She nudging people out of way so we could walk to the front of the hall.
I woke up then....
That's all I remember.

I'm not that nice a person,Patsy. I do stick up for myself once in a while.
Especially if I feel I am being belittled.
.....and when you get to my age.....it's surprsing how many people think they can say what they like to an elderly person.

Dear Joan (beautiful name - 'twas my mum's name.)

I can't think of a better candidate to be a medium. Mediums don't need to be people who can be pushed around - they have to be strong willed and strong in character. You sound perfect. Moreover, you are a lovely, sweet lady whom I have had the pleasure of knowing for a number of years. Joan, if you stick up for yourself and people don't like it - too bad - you've earned the right.

Love,
Patsy.

Hi MysticMagic and welcome to Healthypages,

I can't help you to learn how to become a medium, but do have a question...

Who told you that this is the way you should go? and what do you feel about it yourself?

If I had a pound(dollar/euro) for every time I've heard of a medium or tarot reader telling their client that they have a gift but they're not yet (fully) utilizing it... I would be a rich man. No offence intended, but it does seem to be a common catchphrase they use. Before you even answered, I suspected that it would have been the answer, hence why I asked to be sure.

Of course that doesn't mean you don't have a gift, as in reality, we all have the ability if we choose to embrace it.

I'm sure you'll do well in learning and using your natural gift, and wish you well with it.

Certainly feel free to take part in these forums and get to know others with similar interests, and you're more than welcome to offer free readings to members, to get their feedback and see how you're doing. (We have a readings forum specially for that).

All Love and Reiki Hugs

Giles is spot on and you should listen not only to him but your own intuition. We ARE all psychic, but whether we develop that skill is a personal choice.I was highly sceptical about matters paranormal and psychic until about 5 years ago. Then events conspired to force me to change my mind and investigate how I could develop whatever gifts I had. And now 5 years on I am reiki practitioner and also work as a psychic reader.

I followed my instincts and it led me in a way I could never have imagined. Certainly if 5 years ago someone had told me I would be working today as a psychic reader I would have told them they were mad!!!

I believe the universe needs us all to play our allotted tole - of course the trick is working out what our allotted role is.. Is there something you enjoy doing so much you would pay to do it? If there is then that is probably a good sign that thats is what you should be doing. Because when you are doing something you love that much, you come alive - and what the universe needs is people who are truly alive.

If the idea of working as a medium makes you tingle all over with anticipation then go for it. If it doesn't then don't.

Hope that helps

As regards mediumship and getting involved in any spiritual activity. It is wise to be guided by an experienced person. It is not safe to learn from a book as you have to be aware that there are darker sides, and they may become involved, You have to be aware of this, and always be in control.
Unfortunately many spiritual practices are centered around wishful thinking, wheres in reality there is a solid foundation behind spirit that has to be understood if any value is to be gained..

Thanks for your answer,Scommtech.

Thought this topic had died a quiet death.

I have decided to let the idea of training go. I allow my gifts to come to me naturally.

For the first time last night I saw my husband in spirit.
Appear in front of my Xmas tree. Not surprised at that at all as he just loved Xmas!

A friend that I knew was visited by her father at the time that he died, just to say goodbye. ....Incidents like this seem to be based on love being the key to the connection...It is when people see spiritualism as a theatrical function or lose their sense of responsibility that it can get miss understood.

All the best.
