Legal Pagan Weddings

Hi

If you are interested in having a pagan wedding (handfasting) that is fully legal then you may wish to consider travelling to Scotland to get married.

Unlike England and Wales, Scottish law allows couples to get married anywhere they want to (it doesn't have to be a licensed venue) and the Celebrant can be from a very wide range of religions. Also unlike England and Wales, you don't have to be resident for a set period of time in the place where you get married, so you could combine your wedding with your honeymoon.

These are fully legal weddings, considered valid throughout the world. You don't have to have a religious ritual plus a civil ceremony, you will be fully married! And your ritual can reflect whatever pagan path you follow!

The Scottish Pagan Federation hold a list of approved Pagan Celebrants (of which I am honoured to be one) who are able to perform legal weddings.

Blessings

Magpie

Anyone can officiate, but don't expect it to be a legal marriage. If this is okay for you - go ahead. If you want it to be legal you'll need a civil ceremony in a register office as well.

I alway fancy a pagan wedding but do not knew how to go about it.I wanted to join a pagan community but the one near me meet up in a pud which put me off.As i do not drink and hate pubs. And it quiet scarely goinginto a pub on your ownwhen you are a girl.

Hi Junior,

Did you get your pagan wedding? My friend who is a pagan, officiated at our pagan wedding straight after the 'official' one. It was beautiful. Let me know if you did it or not.

Love,
Patsy.
