It would still be whatever it was after it was called a rose..
I would say it isn't anything after or prior to the naming . Even if I suggest it isn't anything is also incorrect . . It isn't even something ..

I can relate to God is Love pete and it is possible that what has always been always will be but in terms of intellectual evaluation what one concludes to be this and to be that will always change .
The intellectual mind requires satisfaction in something whatever it maybe 'be it God' or self or whatever .
So in order for satisfaction one will make sense of something even if something doesn't make sense one will be satisfied that it doesn't make sense .
God is Love are labels used to evaluate something that makes sense to you .
Prior to the rose and prior to God and Love there was nothing to make sense of in one respect .
Tis what you make it as they say ..
The truth of that also derives through mindful evaluation and through association with an understanding that the labels mean what they say ..
So on one hand when we break down the labels there is nothing left, there isn't even nothing left because 'nothing' is a label ..
If there isn't even nothing what is there?
God?

to my mind this discussion doesn't make sense either, so we are just going around in silly circles, if you believe in God try a prayer, for the answer.

Hi Pete .
I require no answer for there is no question .
What is a question? A question will relate to something . If something doesn't exist prior to the label then what is there?
The hamster only continues to run on the wheel if there is momentum .
The momentum derives through the mind trying to make sense of everything .. even that which doesn't make sense .
the intellectual mind houses the hamsters wheel .
You have made sense of God .
Beyond sense there is no God .
I have made sense of that as labels Go .

The hamster only continues to run on the wheel if there is momentum .
The hamster doesn’t need momentum to run. Momentum is the movement. Once started, the running continues until something changes.
The hamster doesn’t need momentum to run. Momentum is the movement. Once started, the running continues until something changes.
The momentum keeps the wheel turning .. as I said the hamster only 'continues' to run if there's momentum .. The wheel will not turn on it's own ..
I agree something changes although 'something' is a label and it is not even that .. without an evaluation of what seemingly happens that allows the hamster to step off the wheel or at the very least become motionless is neither here or there .. It happens regardless if one concludes or understands why anything happens or not ..

Hi Peter,
Yes – I agree with you. I find it staggering that someone who was a priest could then say that he didn’t believe in God. It certainly looks like there’s a lack of conscience here. Perhaps he went in for it because of social status, easy accommodation provided by the church – who knows ?
But tbh how many people who go into the caring professions (like teaching, medicine, priesthood, social services etc) go in for genuine reasons ? You’d like to think all of them but in reality there will be a certain % of these people who go into caring professions who have no interest in helping people. I guess there are some doctors (I know one anyway) who went into medicine because of pushy parents or because of high salaries and social status. We’ve all seen and I have experienced cruel nurses who have abused patients and teachers who have hated children – so in reality we’ve always had people entering these professions who really shouldn’t be in these jobs. Only these people know the reasons why they have gone into professions which they are eminently unsuitable for.
I did have one theory and that is years ago large families used to send at least 1 boy and 1 girl for the priesthood or to be a nun. The children chosen generally didn’t have a choice. I guess there’s the possibility that he was forced into a profession that he didn’t want
Why did the priest not believe in god? I can't say as I need to watch the interview. Without further info, may be he did once have faith but then lost it. Not knowing what to do, still wishing to help his flock, worried about the loss his job and pension he just carried on.
HI Reiki pixie,
Yes - I thought this too - but on the initial post Peter mentioned that the priest had said he'd never believed in God - hence me thinking that he perhaps didn't have a faith and lost it.

Over the years I’ve met a couple of priests who had lost their faith and were looking for something to fill the gap, and also one who had not given up a belief in his god, but who needed to understand his religion by looking at answers that the bible didn’t provide. They were all three troubled men and were all hoping that shamanism could help them. I guess if they hadn’t been that troubled they wouldn’t have sought me out in the first place.
I’ve also known three separate people (all men, but that could be a coincidence) who considered themselves Christians but who either didn’t believe in Jesus at all (one of them) or that Jesus was the son of God (the other two).
I didn’t really understand why they still felt they were Christians (or why the three priests thought shamanism could help) but I offer this as an illustration of the fact that it takes all sorts …

firstly I apologies for my late reply, but circumstances are what they are.yes I could understand you to a point where people take on into jobs that they don't really want to take, but the family insist etc.
To take on jobs such as a plumber or a teacher or similar I could understand, but to take on the position of a teacher of the Creators work and as a teacher that people should look up to to learn the laws of Creation and the Commandments.and not to believe I find it hard to accept Earthly is earthly, but God is above everything, the Creator of everything to falsify their beliefs of Him to their congregation while on the position on earth, is very wrong to my mind, and that a person should be in the in the in the position without the conviction he should have.new
We all answer in the way we lived while on the earth, when we leave it for other levels, many people do not know about this or the circumstances that are to come, this does not alter the fact or the circumstances.
Peace out the lights

I can understand people going away from the churches, just look at the churches how empty they are now,I assume it is because of a lack of belief, the wool is removed from many a person's eyes and they see more clearly, that the churches did not preach the truth, as they should, but preach as they see things with the intellect, and not with the guidance from above.( They do not know how to listen any more)
There is only one road to God, we all have an ingrained longing for God, many try to satisfy this longing with material things, such as money, property, etc.
This will never satisfy or take away this longing, but it will only increase, when they have made the first million they want the next and so it goes on never-ending.
many try to replace the longing with other intellectual teachings.
God created the earth without churches, many people seem to believe that the only way to God is in churches, this does not apply, what do we give to God by giving to the churches, nothing.
Many people find their way back to God, but many do not, and many millions more must fall in the judgement,.God is not mocked.

,
To take on jobs such as a plumber or a teacher or similar I could understand, but to take on the position of a teacher of the Creators work and as a teacher that people should look up to to learn the laws of Creation and the Commandments.and not to believe I find it hard to accept
But that's from your own perspective. From their perspective, it could be viewed that the job is a job, and if they have sufficient knowledge of the contents of the teachings to pass it on to others, they why shouldn't they?
Earthly is earthly, but God is above everything, the Creator of everything to falsify their beliefs of Him to their congregation while on the position on earth, is very wrong to my mind,
Again, isn't this just your perception. Do you know that this person made false claims of belief to others? I don't know the person myself, but maybe they are completely honest and open with their congregation. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone and all that...
and that a person should be in the in the in the position without the conviction he should have.
So, according to yourself, a person who doesn't believe, also shouldn't teach. Yet, when I was at school we had RE teachers who taught us about all different religions, and I'm sure they were not a believer in all of them (if any). I can certainly believe that there are people who are better educated and teachers of theology, but who don't believe themselves, than many of the vicars/priest or spiritual teachers in some churches/religious groups..
We all answer in the way we lived while on the earth, when we leave it for other levels, many people do not know about this or the circumstances that are to come, this does not alter the fact or the circumstances.
Looking at things the other way, should all teachers/preachers of religion not only believe in their religion, but also be somehow qualified as a teacher of their faith? In which case, are you yourself qualified to be telling people of how it will be "when we leave it for other levels" etc. and if so, where did you get your qualifications, and who accredits yourself (and those others) as being suitably qualified?
As an atheist myself (in a loose sense), I reckon I could teach the meaning of what is taught in the bible better than the drivel I've heard from some vicars/priests and other religious representatives (and yes I have been to various churches and religious gatherings). A lot of what I've heard is clearly subjective and distored views of the stories told, some of which conflict and contradict. It's a shame that such people are seemingly not qualified to preach the beliefs that they represent.

Fine. The teacher can teach another person, perhaps in woodworking or similar. i accept this. And I can understand people's teaching other people about religions such as Buddhist etc, but I find it quite insulting for a person to pretend to be a servant of God when he doesn't believe in Him, perhaps he should stand up before the congregation and say perhaps you should know that I do not believe in God, but I am here to teach about, in a house that is supposed to be a house of God.
I do not think there would be many in the congregation.and what would the point of his empty prayers be if they carry no conviction or belief?
Being an atheist I believe and assume your thoughts would fall different to mine. I do believe in God the Creator.
I assume you believe in Healing, where do you think it comes from?
Peace and light.
Peter
God is not mocked.
There was nothing in what you said about the priest to suggest that he was mocking anyone.
I find it quite insulting for a person to pretend to be a servant of God when he doesn't believe in Him,
Insulting to whom? Not to you personally. So is the god that you believe in so easily insulted?
I assume you believe in Healing, where do you think it comes from?
I suspect you could get many answers to this. While you and Giles probably have different views, I suspect mine would be different again. (I would say, from the spirits.)
A priest that teaches about a God that they don't believe in has a kind of ring of a cosmic joke to me. If God is that almighty, surely s/he has big enough anthropomorphical shoulders to handle it 😉
Fine. The teacher can teach another person, perhaps in woodworking or similar.
Careful, the professional woodworkers may get offended. 😉
i accept this. And I can understand people's teaching other people about religions such as Buddhist etc,
So you're ok with it being another religion or faith, just so long as it's not your own. Somewhat a case of double standards that, isn't it?

I understand 'healing' through the use of energy. It doesn't require belief and doesn't need to come from anywhere.

You say the God that I believe, but there is only one Creator, the same one that created me created. You also.
. I find it very insulting. I should not think that such a petty insult would bother God, the little weas and woes of mankind, I do not think they bother the Creator, as we all have to answer to this thoughts, words and deeds, when we leave the Earth.
I think the priest also must answer to his actions, I would not like a person who did not believe in God, teaching me about the Bible.
Peace and light.

I don't believe in religions, I believe in God, I not believe we need a church to pray from.
God is my teacher, not some person who pretends to believe in him.
You say you understand healing through the use of energy. It doesn't require belief and doesn't need to come from anywhere.
Everything has a beginning and an end, God has graced us with healing energies that we can draw from in creation, they are not just there, they are put there by God.
It doesn't require belief to heal!
It seems a lot of people believe that everything just happened, with no reason, everything has a reason, and a purpose, why are we on this Earth for what purpose. Where do we come from, ignorance is bliss for so many.
Peace and light.

Yes, and reap what you sow!
But isn't your god capable of dealing with this himself? Will you not have to reap the consequences of your judgements of others?
But isn't your god capable of dealing with this himself? Will you not have to reap the consequences of your judgements of others?
Yes, yes, as I have said before we all must reap what we sow, in thought, word and deed.
I just try to point out where I think people are wrong (just my opinion being a discussion board), I also believe if I continued to let them proceed on the wrong road. It would be wrong,as to let then head for spiritual death.
I also know you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink it, the choice is theirs.
I accept all my actions, but my love for God and for my fellow man, I will continue to try to help them.

This is an extract from a book I read by Herbert Vollmann, A Gate Opens, speaking about after death.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thus for example the English poet H Dennis Bradley, who died in 1930 promised to communicate after his death, if this were at all possible. And shortly afterwards he actually succeeded in giving through a medium a very good description of his experience in the beyond, which runs as follows.
The landscape in which we live is a great deal different from that of the Earth. It is of a blessed purity and clearness. There is a tremendous amount of light, and nothing is grey ,there even dark.
There is a soil here as well, as an ocean, trees and flowers, but everything is more beautiful and more wonderful than on Earth.
Even the plumage of the birds is more radiant more colourful. But the strangest of all are flowers. They not only exclude fragrance, but also admit delightful sounds which the physical ear cannot hear, and which are different for each kind flower.
There is no weariness here and no need for rest, instead of one feels oneself all ways overflowing with a wonderful strength. Time is of no importance. One is always busy, for there is 1 million times as much to be learned as on Earth. There are millions and millions of purported souls to be found here. The spirits can communicate with one another, even as though they spoke different languages during their earthly lives.
The ability to move from one place to another is also a wonderful. It is not the same as on Earth, for there are no physical bodies here. Even though I do have a body that could become compared with a body an earth on, it does not bind me.
Here it is enough simply to wish to be somewhere and immediately you are there.
In the future it will probably again be possible for human beings still on Earth and souls beyond to communicate. But for this it is necessary for their human being to simply trust and to open the gates of knowledge which he has closed himself by his lack of belief.
Physical death must lose its terror when we know that the forward striving of the human being is simply a crossing from one spear of creation and other. The soul, with the spirit as its core, only strips of the perishable earthly cloak. How ever, it retains the bodily form as a characteristic of the spirit, who’s actual home is in the spiritual realm, is also called Paradise. The way that there is long, but it is bordered by luminous gardens in which the upward striving human spirits find wonderful helps and refreshing strength. It is one of these luminous gardens that is described by the deceased poet from the beyond.
Not only once must a human soul be born and die again, until it has attained that lightness, and with it that purity, which completely detaches it from the earthly.

I realise this OP was made some 4 years ago but, by being in the Christianity section, it automatically makes assumptions about who/what God is. I feel it would have done better in the General Faiths section.
As for myself, I lean towards pantheism - identifying God with the universe, i.e. not a personal God.
Hi Peter, that was an encouraging account!
Sorry to hear that you're still having a struggle.
Love and peace,
Judy
Thank you Judy
I am using a new version of Dragon speech, it is new to me anyhow, hopefully I can join in the conversations as I used a.
It recognizes my voice better than the other version used to, hopefully I can make conversations without getting frustrated all the time with myself, God doesn't give us anything we can't handle or deserve.
Reading back through my previous conversations with people here, I still think the same although part of my brain is missing, I never had a complete, in the first instance anyhow, ha ha.
If I repeat my conversations here to other people is because I cannot remember what I wrote before, although I have made notes and printed off my previous conversations and studied them.
I used to enjoy conversing with you, I think we have a no homogeneity with each other, I think searching for God is with both of us, we can only see Him in his works, in every flower, and every breath of wind, etc. we have an ingrained longing for God built into every one of us, whether we recognize it it, is up to the and the individual
