Enlightenment comes from practice,
Thus Enlightenment is limitless;
Practice comes from Enlightenment,
Thus practice has no beginning.

Or, as I prefer:
A monk asked Unmon, "What is Buddha?".
Unmon said "A shit-stick!" (Kan-shiketsu!)

RE: enlightenment
Absolutely spot on. I once saw graffiti on a wall, and never understood the meaning until I started walking a spiritual path...it said " Life is ", please try to understand and " Love ". Words are not always necessary.......just still-ness and silence....and an empty mind.

RE: enlightenment
Enlightenment to me is a few people acting holy while extracting money from the gullible. The greatest scam there is.

I'm so sorry you feel this way. You must have had some bad experiences to be so cynical. Believe me enlightenment is not what you say it is. I would agree that there are some people who make money by teaching supposed ways to reach enlightenment. But that doesn't equate with enlightenment itself. Enlightenment by whatever name you call it is very real. And no one should have to pay for it - unless they want to!
