Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone knows of the current opening times for the Witchcraft Museum in Boscastle. We (Oakapple and me) are going west at half term, staying just outside Camelford. We always visit Boscastle while in the area but haven't made it to the Witchcraft Museum since the big flood, the first time it was being refurbed because of the damage and the next time it was closed as it was out of season and it only opened at certain times.

Any way, to cut a long story short, we want to go there but would like to catch it open this time. Also, if anyone can suggests other places to visit while there, we would be grateful.

boscastle museum

hi crabapple
i have visited before the floods but since unfortunately, hope this helps though. These are the present opening times since the flood
Another good place to visit nearby is tintagel and the castle of king arthur (weather permitting it can be a bit slippy underfoot when damp), nearby is st nectern's glen a small walk but well worth the beautiful image you will see when you get there. The glen is situated in private grounds, they have a small cafe and i'm not sure if they're open during the autumn but will try and find out for you

The Harbour, Boscastle, PL35 0HD, Cornwall, England
T: 01840 250 111
Open: April- end of October Mon-Sat 1030-1800 Sun 1130-1800 Out of season visits can sometimes be made by appointment
Closed: November - end March

kind regards

Hi,

Thanks all for your replies, looks like it will be open while we are there, will be so good going there again.

We generally go to Tintagel, but have never gone into the actual King Arthur's castle, maybe this time. We have walked along the coastal path from Tintagel to Boscastle before now, and wouldn't mind doing it again, should the weather be good.

Can't wait, so want to chill out and relax after one of the busiest terms I have had!

Thanks again for your suggestions and help.

Hilary

Hi all,

Just returned from a wonderful few days! Thank you soooo much for that suggestion Witchmaster, about St. Nectarns Glen, it was absolutely magical and the people who run it were so welcoming. Such a shame they are having to sell it due to ill health (the wife has had a stroke), selling it for a mere £1.25 million......, they will still be holding rituals and handfastings there for a while longer, but they have an article in Pagan Dawn this month, asking for suggestions.

I am posting a few photos, have resized them so they should be ok. One is of St. Nectarns glen waterfall, one of a tree where people wedge a coin as an offering to the tree for a wish, which is where the saying 'touch wood' comes from. The other photo is of the sunrise over 'Brown Willy' on Bodmin moor, the scene is from our bungalow window! Superb!!

Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as Oakapple and I did!!

Love

hi crabapple

so glad you enjoyed your break and that st nectens glen didn't disappoint you, sad to hear about the lady, i just hope that whatever happens it won't become commercialised and spoilt.
is the witches museum back to normal now? i haven't been down since the flood, when i saw the pictures on the news on the day of the flood i couldn't believe what i was seeing,
anyways, glad to hear you had a wonderful time and the pictures are beautiful, what a view you had

Hi, yes forgot to mention the Witchcraft Museum! It was brilliant as well, some recent additions to it, including robes from the Knights templars and other elaborate ritual robes and cloaks. It has very 'new' feel about the place, with some high tech doors into and out of it. The one display that we either didn't notice last time or is new was of the Golden Dawn and the ritual tools that they use. There is also a new collection donated by a Bob Richel, but once again, don't know if we just missed this last time!

Here is a link to it:

There is a warning on that page...so be aware!!

Hi Moongoddess,

Oakapple took the photo of the sunrise, he is always up early....ok it wasn't that early, but to me on my holiday it was!! His morning greeting would be for him to open the door to our bedroom, open all the curtains and shout....look at that beautiful sunrise!! I just hmmmphed and turned over!! Just don't seem to have as much enthusiasm as he does in the morning!!

Any way, yes it was lovely to meet you too, nice to put a face (and hair) to the name!!

Love

Crabapple xx
