RE: timeshare
In my experience of them, they can be good if you take a lot of holidays and have a large family. You can make a big saving then. Otherwise I'm not sure they're worth the money.
RE: timeshare
I have two friends with Timeshares. One has two weeks in Tenerife in September, and has been going to the same place for about 16 years. The standard of accommodation is amazing, but they are getting a little jaded with the same place time after time, but cannot find anyone willing to change either location of allocated time. The other family have a timeshare in the south of England - very plush, but now a millstone as they opted for one week, in January - fine when it was just the two of them with a visiting son (who was at a nearby University) - they cannot find a buyer for that particular week, and if they don't visit the property in their 'time' they still have to pay the service charge of £400 - I think those are the things to look for - service charges and whether you can change properties and time allotments. We bought into a company where we can choose where we want to stay, when we want to stay, and if it is available, just pay a service charge (plus flights, and provide our own food). Went to Portugal in April for 1 week - fabulous - can't wait to go back. Hoping to fix up a trip to Italy and Austria next year.
Holiday timeshare are good for a family. I've been taken my family on holiday vacaition for the last 4 years and it's been a pleasure everytime. In order to do so I used the website http://www.sell-resales-timeshare.com/ to check out what was the best timeshare available at this moment. You can also, if your a timeshare owner, sell it one this same website and buy timeshare.
