I hope to write a report about the mission to Israel but this post is just about the country, places customs etc. Not sure what I am allowed to include here I assume it is OK to site website addresses. I flew from London City Airport and this was a first, nice little airport and very few people there, much better then Gatwick and Heathrow. One can also fly to Tel Aviv from Stansted. I changed flights at Zurich, overall flying time about six hours and flew with Swiss Air. Met a wonderful guy, one of the Swiss crew who with no co-incidence had taken one his children to see Stephen Turoff in Maldon with success so we had a lot to discuss. Swiss Air was brilliant, food good, low cost flight, real knife and fork and free drinks including wine. One of the Israeli light workers picked me up from the airport and from there we went to her home in Rishon Le Ziyon, beaches were super in this area and not far from Tel Aviv. There is excellent public transport in Israel and a lot run all night. I was invited to join the light workers for a gathering at the Dead Sea but declined because I had to make my way to Bethlehem HaGalilit in preparation for May 13th and locate the exact spot for us to gather. There are taxi buses that are very low priced and a taxi bus took me to Tel Aviv to get the bus. Security in Israel is paramount and very thorough indeed, even going on and off of buses one goes through an airport screening at bus stations. The main bus stations are very different to here, there are food halls, shops, internet cafes etc etc. Clothes are also very cheap in comparision with the UK and with the weather being hot one does not need to take very much, I came back with half my small case full not worn. Bethlehem HaGalilit is absolutely beautiful village with many templar buildings that have been renovated, it is here that archaeologists believe Jesus was really born. It overlooks the Alonei Abba woods that are serene and very peaceful. There is a purity about the area and it overlooks the Jezreel Valley. I stayed with Avner and Mindi in one of their log cabins, quality was wonderful, own jacuzzi, etc Breakfast left in cabin was enough for dinner as well. This place really is the first place to stay in this village although there are some other places there too. There are good facilities in the village, bikes, horseriding, a shop, restuarant etc. Avner and Mindi are fantastic hosts and we had a lot in common. I was taken through my first Kibbutz on the way from the Alonei Abba bus junction and cashed in some travellers cheques on the way. The Post Office in Israel is where you get the best rates and they don't take any commission. Avner is also a tour guide so there is nothing he cannot tell you about the area and Israel. Mindi is a midwife, American and also involved in CM. During my stay in Israel they also took me to a wedding at Tiberias at the Sea of Gaililee and that is wonderful story in itself. Avner used to grow Roses for a living before getting into tourism. Many of you know the importance of the Roses to this time of the evolvement of humanity. ;) So you can imagine my joy at meeting them, sadly I only stayed there for 2.5 days, the next night, I stayed in the woods with the light workers that were gathering for the stargate opening, next time I hope to stay longer when there is not so much to do with them upstairs. Here is another website based on the area by the archaeologist Aviram Oshri, there is a film on there but I can assure you that the landscape is far more beautiful and green then this portrays, it really feels like the Garden of Eden when you are there.Israel is a small country so it is easy and quick to get around Tel Aviv to Bethlehem was about an hour and half and the bus a good way to see the country. PS Don't expect to pitch up whenever you feel like it, most places to stay are fully booked for Shabbat, the unreligious tend to go away for it. 2 out of 3 places were fully booked on Friday and Saturdays. A bit like us taking weekends away....
