Hi, this is a message primarily for any members living in/near Northampton. I have a funeral to attend at Counties crem. I don't know Northampton too well (I visited the city probably about 20 years ago, enroute to somewhere for some shopping), but how far say from central Northampton is the crem?

Secondly I don't want to spend a lot out on accom, but because I don't drive I want to be able to get out of the hotel room. Friends locally to where I am have suggeted the Travelodge in Gold Street but is there anywhere you can recommend (accom on the motorway areas not suitable). Thanks

Not much help, but I stayed at the Premier Inn on Newport Pagnell Road West, which was about a mile and a bit from the Towcester Road (Counties) crem - I think there is another crem in Dallington. (I wasn't attending a funeral, but had rellies in the area a couple of years ago - the station was 2 miles away)

Hi Jabba can you remember though if the premier inn was reasonably central (I don't drive) and are going to have to spend 2 nights there and don't want to keep having to get taxi's from wherever stay to get out for food (or just to get out for air!). Funeral def at counties cream (towcester rd).

Thanks
AP

There is a Ibis hotel on Marefair which is at the bottom of Gold street, just up from the train station, I think they are reasonably priced and as its the town centre you can get out and about easily enough, people I used to work with have used it and didn't have any issue as far as I'm aware. The crem is maybe 3 or 4 miles out of the town centre East Hunsbury direction if I remember correctly. There is also a Park Inn in Northampton town centre if you are willing to pay a bit extra. That is in the same sort of area as Ibis and Travel lodge.

All the Premier Inns have restaurant facilities. You could always ring them (you can find the number on the Premier Inn website) and ask if there is a bus service - I seem to remember there was a bus stop nearby. Is there anyone attending the service who would be able to pick you up?
