Hiya,
As it'sour 30th wedding anniversary in June 2007my wife and Iwant to go somewhere special for our hols. We've always wanted to go toAfrica on something like a combined beach and safari type of deal, probably in Kenya, and was wondering if anyone has done this sort of thing, and would the weather beO.K in June as it might be the rainy season .
Kind regards
Graham.

RE: Anyone been to Kenya?

hi graham,

i did this trip a few years back, but in august. june could be a little iffy weatherwise, i think. august was nice... not real hot, a little rain, hardly any mozzies.

i had 10 days on the beach in mombasa, well not on the beach cos you just get hassled... and 3 days in the masai mara, which was in the middle of the trip.

great holiday.... amazing sites.

enjoy!

I went to Kenya this September on honeymoon - All I can say is that it was amazing!!

We also stayed in Mombasa (Voyager) and then Governors camp for 3 days - Safari at Governors was the hihlight and September is the best time to go as the Wildebeest and Zebra are migrating from Tanzania and if you're lucky (Like us)you get to see a River crossing. We saw every other animal (apart from Rhino and we would certainly return to Governors.

Some short video clips we took can be seen at:

Hiya,
Despite the weather warnings, I've booked to go in June.It can't be that bad, what's a bit of rain to a trueBrit. It can't rain any worse than it is today.. What I'd like to know is what's the best currency to use there,I read either Kenyan shillings or US dollars.Which do the Kenyans prefer?
Also how much would it cost to go on Safari for two or three days? We're booked in a hotel on Diani beach for 14 days ,so if we want to go on safari it costs extra, and I'd like to budget to go on one.
Cheers,
Graham.

RE: Anyone been to Kenya?

Hi, went to Kenya 20 years ago , in June, and we got married there. Hubby proposed at the base of Kilimanjaro and we got married the following week in Mombassa by special license. The weather was great, and although the start of the rainy season, it was refreshing to have the rain and it didn't spoil the holiday atall. we didn't see a single mosquito, although other hotels did. If the hotel is kept immaculate, as ours was, then you shouldn't be bothered by them - however, you still neet to take the anti maleria tablets. One word of warning, the locals are poor, so walking around dripping in jewellery, wearing a posh watch or sporting an expensive camera could leave you open to being robbed. It is not the kind of place to walk about in the dark, however - we found the locals friendly and charming - just don't rub your wealth in their faces.
I do hope you enjoy your hols.
Love and hugs
Gill xx
