We do have potted trees and plants and a herb wheel. The idea was that we did away with the lawn and predominantly gravelled in it's place, adding in an arch with ivy growing over it, stepping stones between the different areas etc plus the pond which is now gone (I took it out at the weekend), making the garden low maintenance and easy to change the layout.

The problem is that we keep getting viewings from people who want a lawn and know what a pain in the backside it is to put it back to lawn so this has put them off buying it (in particular a lady who looked at it last Friday who said the only reason she didn't want it was because of the amount of work required to get the garden back to lawn!).

It sounds lovely as it is and you'll never please everyone.

LOL I will do, I just can't find any at the moment and it's like a bombsite out there now from the work I did yesterday!

I was going to say not everyone wants a garden........and may be happy with low maintenance like yourself...but if that's the feedback you've been getting....."no garden..not want it"

We had a town house once, with a small front area, (OH has been a landscaper in is time), and at that time wasnt interested in his own pad. Two areas of stumpy roots he covered up into a mound and made 2 rockeries planted with small ornamental japanes acers and alpine type plants. central area was coloured stones.....one lavender hedge along the adjoining wall...1 small bamboo in a corner, and a few stepping stones. One central weeping rose bush, which was absolutely ladened when it flowered throughout the summer. Along with the huge hanging basket at the side of the front door, it was the talk of the neighbourhood.....and VERY low maintenance, NO lawn. 🙂
