All organisations need to include and not exclude clients
discuss diversity under the following headings
Relevant legislation,
Industry codes of practice
policicies and procedures of your organinsation
Ok, well I've not done this course myself so I don't know the 'official' answers. Logically though I would say...
Relevant Legislation - This relates to lawful requirements to avoid discrimination. An organisation should not accept or refuse someone based on race, sex, disability, age or, as you say, social class. Clearly an organisation may advise against certain things for certain types of people providing it is based on logical reasoning. To use an extreme example, a sex therapist may run a course specifically for women and choose to exclude men from applying to be on the course due to the nature of the content and the comfort of the women attending. This would be acceptable.
Industry codes of practice - This relates to the guidelines laid down by the relevant associations/organisations to which a particular therapy is associated. e.g. a particular therapy association may not approve of treating people with pace makers do to the nature of the therapy. Whether that "contra-indication" is justified could be debated as it may just be that the association is covering it's backside for insurance reasons, but such guidelines should be followed by the practitioners of that therapy in order to stay within insurance requirements.
Policies and Procedures of the organisation - This relates to the actual business you work for. It's unlikely that the specific business will have anything additional on top of the legal and industry requirements. However, a particular organisation may specialise in e.g. "women only" and advertise itself as such. If this is the nature of the business they offer then it is not necessarily seen as sex discrimination. e.g. there are women only fitness clubs out there. It is more seen as a target client base for the business rather than actually discriminating against males.
