Well, I'm currently doing this marketing assignment and is stuck on the first task.
I have got to analyse the role of marketing to a beauty therapy business... I know its to do with the needs and requirements of the client, but I can't think of what else to write.
I know many of you will be working in industry and know alot more about business than I do, so any help will be appreciated.
Thxs

RE: Role of Marketing
Role of marketing to a beauty therapy business? I'd use the marketing mix as a starting point:
Each aspect can be broken down - eg "Product" entails looking at the target audience.

The role of marketing stays the same for any business. A product led business comes up with a product then decides how they are going to market it and sometimes there is no gap in the market. Most businesses are product led hence why many fail.
A marketing led company carries out research to find out if there is a market for a potential product/service. Also ask the customer what they want and what they want to pay, they also research trends that will come in say 5,10,15 years from now.
So the role for your own business would be to do some market research on your idea, locality, competition, assessing your strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats to the business. Marketing is about giving the customer what they want at a price they want to pay that is profitable to you. After this research is done one can then decide on marketing objectives, target audience, strategy, pricing policy and implementation. So the role of marketing for your business is to ensure that it has a sound foundation with limited risk involved. A strategic, planned and well thought out approach to taking your service to market that you decid is the best option.
For instance most CM therapists try to be all things to all people instead of carving themselves out there own niche market in their area e.g a homeopath that specialises in working with children. Marketing helps us to differentiate ourselves in the market place and by assessing your own unique selling propositions is an important aspect of defining the target audience that you would like to address. E.g. why should a customer come to you instead of go to someone else? What benefit do you offer them that your competitors do not? Otherwise known as USP's in marketing jargon. So marketing helps you to define positioning in the market, streamline and be successful through research and strategic planning.
The Marketing Mix is about promotional implementation e.g. the marketing disciplines that one would use to promote the business once a corporate strategy is agreed. So for instance once all the above work is done, you know who you are targeting and with what services and at what price, and in your case from what locality. You would then do a costing exercise and cash flow deciding on a marketing budget to promote the business and what marketing mix will be used. e.g. corporate identity, advertising, brochures, PR. Whether one will use radio, press, TV, direct mail, exhibitions or PR and in what mix.
I have an old basic business plan on file that I did for a small business I am happy to send it to you by email if you wish to email me via my
Good luck with your assignment.
Love beyond measure
